The reigning Olympic golf champion was George Lyon of Canada. Justin just ended his reign but he was champion for 112 years (something of a record). Great last round with Rose and Stensen.

Congrats to Bolt and Jamaica in retaining the Olympic crown for four more years and beating out the US and Canada.

So was that super Sunday?

5 golds - 6 really as one was guaranteed yesterday in sailing but event will complete today.

Golf, tennis, Gymnastics * 2, Cycling

Really phenomenal day for GB. Rose wins first olympics golfing gold in over 100 years, Whitlock wins our first ever mens gold in gymnastics and Murray becomes the first person ever to win 2 olympic singles gold medals. Plus Bolton's Kenny nabs yet another gold!

That is a pretty historic and fabulous day however you want to slice it.

The only shame for me this olympics was Jessica Ennis not winning gold. She did everything she could and was incredibly unlucky to lose to a kid dropping PB's like nothing else, but a gold would have been a fitting end to an amazing story for her.

I feel like I've got an Olympics hangover. Stayed up to watch the athletics then watched pretty much everything from about 6pm last night.

Really got into the gymnastics, cheering whenever one of the others fecked up a landing. The Golf was tense. The cycling a formality but glad Jason Kenny won it. Chance for another 1-2 in the womens cycling sprint event.

a great team effort - and just goes to show that if you pour money in and spend it wisely - it makes a difference.

Louis Smith clearly doesn't like Max Whitlock

"That's bullshit" he said as the result went up - Didn't offer him any congratulations and looked very, very bitter indeed

His own fault for being a top knot wanker

Definitely cost him a couple of tenths with the judges.

Very odd behaviour .. & very public. Big sissy.

Maybe Whitlock told him last week that it was his fault the team lost the Gold (which it was).

Or maybe he said that if he'd spent the past 4 years not mincing about being a publicity junkie he might have concentrated better.

Hi Sean - it's been quite a while since we heard from you. Great race and for a moment I thought Bolt was beaten. He has slower acceleration but a higher top speed it seems.

I don't understand this particular version of this sport at all.

If Cavendish was anything other than Team GB I'd want his sending off for that crash.

As he is GB I'm all for him.

Laura Trott is a real flying machine, ain't she just? Totally confused on the mens' Omnium rules...what are they? Good to see Cavendish come out with a silver (how?) but that was one smack up of a crash he caused.
