Hmmm. The heat looks horrific. They'll tire but you'd think they'll be much fresher early doors. Quick wickets and we're goosed.

Think we can safely say England are going home early. Shame but we simply aren’t at the races I suspect for a variety of reasons. I doubt we get close to troubling anything like 350. Let alone the score they eventually get.

Bowling attack whilst not ideal for these conditions has seriously, seriously underperformed.

I'm going full Insane hyperbole - as is often seen at half time. 🤣🤣🤣

We're shit at this right now. Shit from EWCB, shit bowling, shit batting and shit captaincy.

Afghanistan will likely be bottom of table tonight unless we manage to duck under them. Outstanding bowling attack, my arse.

Mind, it's a good batting track - so step forwards world class batting attack!

( I'll still swap this for a win in the rugby semi)

They can score 400 points tonight as long as we get 400 runs!

In fairness we are double World Cup holders in this format and T20 so whilst I agree this tournament we are very poor - I did sort of predict this going in as we weren’t in good shape for it.

However our record has been very good in recent years so perhaps it’s simply our turn for a dip.

We're WC holders in this format coz there's not been a final for 4 years. Give over man. You're not usually this "forgiving" :-)

I mean, that humidity and you win the toss and field first, when your bowling has been below par? Dumb fcuks.

Anyhow, let me have my moment of role reversal and don't try and come up with mitigations... 😎

Good of them to get it over with before wanderers.

Stokes 200 and Buttler 150 and we've got this.

Not a case of being forgiving more than we scaled the BoE guts that we’d never done before and sadly are now in a slump. But we did win the T20 WC a year or two back it’s hardly been total disaster till now.

I’d have batted first too but they are so worried about dew and are used to being a good side and good sides chase in this format. Right now though as you say we aren’t a good side!

Capitulation.

Let's not "aren't good" this is absolute shambles, territory. We still need runs to avoid the heaviest loss ever (we'll probably scrape past)

As for you making the same decision to bowl first, obviously two wrongs don't make a right! 😉

And to think folks were trying to convince me it was Afghanistn's brilliance that outshone us!

Oh and.

Dear Invisible Sky Person,

Remember the deal was the Saffers can have this one (despite Prufrock)

Thanks

Worthy.

Well we're pretty much on the run rate with 28 overs left!

Doh.

7th biggest dicking in WC history, just behind Netherlands, Bermuda, West Indies, Namibia and the record holders, Afghanistan.

That's gotta be worth at least a respectable scoreline in the rugby!

Aye - they did, so in the table just in front of Netherlands, Bangladesh (both a game back), a pretty poor Sri Lanka and an even worse England, propping up the table for everyone to point out we should be playing in black pumps....

You’d say that at least the ECB would learn some lessons from this but I fear that 2019 only happened because Morgan and the fact it was a home WC. Take that away and now we are back to being as bad or worse as we were prior to 2015.

The difference this time is we do have the players who are good enough in the format to do better than this but they aren’t prepared properly or in any form.
