Who's The Bar Steward In The Black?

Post by Little Green Man » Tue Jun 06, 2006 8:08 pm

I guess this might as well be the thread for discussing the inevitable refereeing howlers (like in the Italy vs. S. Korea game four years ago).

Do we have any insight from our Mexican chums on the ref for the England - Paraguay game. I've heard he's a bit fussy.

he's a good ref, but he will knock heads with any player challenging his calls.

So it's worth a few quid on Gary Neville getting sent off before 80 minutes is up?

I notice that prick Poll, the self-styled "best referee in England" has been rewarded with the massive South Korea v Togo clash.

Still not forgiven him for how he refereed that Fulham game in a completely inconsistent way because he was miked up.

Cock.

Some interesting comments on this Mexican ref....

"Marco Rodriguez, without doubt is the worst referee I have ever seen. He makes Uriah Rennie look like Pierluigi Colina.

Rodriguez or "Chiqui Dracula" (Little Dracula) as he is known here is a very controversial figure in Mexico.

My first experience of Chiqui was seeing him send off six players at a Tigres game in 1999.

I've seen him on numerous occasions since and he has sent off at least one player in every game. His darkest three hours though came in the 2005 Mexican finals:

Club America were losing 1-0 in the 90th minute when one of their players fell, yards from an opposing player. Chiqui awarded the most amazingly unjust penalty in history and Club America went on to win the title.

In the second final hot favourites Monterrey had three players inexplicably sent off and went on to lose. Chiqui had to have an armed police escort round the clock when he officiated there this season.

Chiqui was actually the standby ref for Germany, but last week it was announced that the first choice was " injured."

I just know Chiqui will take great pleasure in sending Beckham, Owen or any of our stars off - so place your bets on the first red card being in the England v Paraguay game - Crouch getting sent off for the robot dance is a distinct possibility!"

"You guys got Marco Rodriguez of Mexico, otherwise known as "Chiquidracula" because of his slicked back black hair and widow's peak.

This is truly awful luck because the guy is one of those refs who thinks the match is all about him. He'll throw out red cards like candy.

Go over to the Mexico boards and ask about the mockery that this guy made of the Monterrey-Toluca final last December.

He could send off 3 England players, he could send off 3 Paraguayans, there's no telling. He wildly overreacts to simple challenges.

I hope your press dig up the truth about this guy and expose it ahead of time so you know what you're looking at here.

Again, I hope Sven can get his hands on the Monterrey-Toluca final to see how this guy goes bat-shit in big games"

WOW! definitely hates chiquis.
i agree, he loves to pull out the Red card but overall i don't think he is much different than the average european ref.

I'm thinking Ray Reardon meets Barry Knight.

Should be fun...

Little Dracula lived up to his billing. Not too bad in the first half but made some dire decisions in the second. When was the last time you saw a keeper done for the six second rule? Ah, that's right, Jussi up in the north-east last season (was it Toon or Boro?). Pernickety would be the best word for him.

Incidentally, if it was that hot out there, how come his hair product wasn't melting?
