What are you playing tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Across a Wire for the first time in ages.

Mellow vibes.
Wonderful. One of my two all-time favourite live albums. 'Anna Begins' always makes me stop the car.

It's a cracker to have on in the kitchen when cooking, can confirm.

Horseshoes & Hand Grenades by Billy the Kid.

Nice bit of Americana by the lovely Billy the Kid. Some filler but a few cracking tracks.

Would be right up LeverEnd's street. Where the feck has he gone?

Give this a listen. The theme music from Last of the Mohicans but by a native American group called Indiogenes . I've heard loads of versions of this, but I found this quite moving..

Frank Turner's latest, 'Be More Kind'.

Top drawer return to form. Last two albums have been a bit wet, but this is a sparkling return to form. Something for everyone.

Will be finding a date on the tour to head along for the best live music experience around.

I read earlier he's in a two way fight for no 1 album with the Greatest Showman soundtrack, AND, that Spotify plays apparently count on the charts.

So I'm doing my bit.

See, me and my bunch of gig-going buddies naturally share pretty similar tastes in music. We don't all rave over the same bands/artists, but are pretty safe in the knowledge that any member of the group can drag a bunch of the rest along to a gig and we'll all tend to enjoy it.
Where I differ from the pack is when it comes to Frank Turner. The rest of the gang absolutely bang on about this guy like he's the second coming. I find him average at best. I really can't see what all the fuss is about. :conf:

Is that based on the recordings or on seeing him live?

Hearing recordings. I gave away my ticket to see him live to someone who wanted it much more than I did.

Different animal live (though understandable decision). I like the album stuff, but he's consistently the best live musician I've ever seen (for the experience rather than anything technical). Never seen a bond between musician and fans like it.

A colleague's implored me to listen to one particular album entitled something along the lines of 'I'm a smug 4ucker, and you're a pleb if you don't like my work'. I've listened to a few tracks so far and have to say that a couple of them really have exceeded my expectations. I'll listen to a few more.

I really like this powerful treatment of Sound of Silence. Heavy metal band called "Disturbed". I've listened to this half a dozen times

Still keep going back to this. It's addictive. Matter of fact, it's fantastic.

Regina Spektor. Gone through her whole catalogue at work whilst counting down the days to redundancy...
The Trapper and The Furrier is my favourite I think. But it's close. Still like Desire (first and only thing of hers I'd heard until last week), and Pavlov's Daughter, which set me on the quest to hear more.
Barmaid at my local informs me her name don't rhyme with Vagina, but I'm not convinced it shouldn't.

A few oldies including the Pogues version of Dirty Old Town. McGowan could still pack em in despite now turning 61 last Christmas. Shane Mac with teeth and a shirt and tie is a bit of a far cry from Farytale in New York days.
