Goalkeepers, Penalties Shoot-Outs, that sort of thing

Post by Le Snake » Tue Jul 04, 2006 5:08 pm

What do you think the chances are of us producing a penalty specialist 'keeper before 2008? After watching Ricardo against England, I'd be inclined to look for someone who can do something similar to take as the no. 3, even if he was otherwise shite. Let the players practice against him in training (can't reproduce the atmosphere of knock-out pens, of course, but every little helps), and if it's heading for a shoot-out and you have any substitutions left, you have an ace that could win you the tie.

Can anyone think of any English 'keepers with a reputation for stopping spot kicks?

Any thoughts?

Stick Crouch in goal when it gets to penalties.
