What gets you going??

Post by Gertie » Mon Oct 02, 2006 12:35 pm

Tonight my netball team has to win (and hope another team loses) to avoid relegation back to the bottom division, bit of a tall order…. but I hope we can do it.

On the way to the game I try and play songs to get me in the mood for the game, being as I’m a lovely girl it’s against my nature to be aggressive and rude. (apart from PMT and overdrawness)

Anyways being a fan of boy bands and gays there isn’t much in the way of motivational hardball music in my collections. So I recently started having the Stone Roses – “this is the one” as my tune of choice and it ties in as it’s a common netball expression (for those of you in the netball know)

Anyways, I noticed on the TV yesterday, that they play that track at OT before the RedSox games, so now I’m looking for some new tracks to play on the way to netball games to get me up for winning tonight and hopefully staying in our league.

I’ve got 5 free downloads from i-tunes to use up so any recommendations would be gratefully received.

p.s My fellow-team mate Lou listens to Lionel Ritchie on the way to games (this may be the reason we’ve only won 2 games all season).

Was expecting like confessions of a four foot bear with check pants

Play Queen's "We will rock you" full blast all the way there Gerts. Take That and YMCA are no good for this one.

"Sweaty Bettie" by the Macc Lads, which even mentions the wearing of big knickers as well as sweaty birds. That sounds quite appropriate to me.

Are you feeling brave

No Brucie bonus for you
Well, she wore big knickers,
And she worked on t' sewage farm,
I got me 'and down 'er jeans an'
I nearly lost half me arm.
But after ten pints,
Looked quite fit,
Couldn't wait to get me hands
On her flabby tits.

Ah, good point my good man.

In that case, anything by CC Catch (The CC when applied to Gertie's lot standing for 'Can't Chuffin'). Or maybe even Stumble and Fall by Razorlight.

Rise - Zion Train (the Rise Suite mix, not the Radio mix)
Cecilia Ann - The Pixies
Little Fluffy Clouds - The Orb

And should you get relegated...

Long Road - Funki Porcini

Here you go, Gerts.

This is by Sclub 7, apparently.

It goes:

Reach for the stars
Climb every mountain higher
Reach for the stars
Follow your hearts desire
Reach for the stars
And when that rainbow's shining over you
That's when your dreams will all come true

Well off the hook.

Bruce!! How dare you!!! Saggy tits!!!!

You're a bad boy, very bad boy, very very bad boy. And quoting Sclub7 won't get you out of this mess.

If I wanted ridicule and rude lyrics quoting at me I wouldn't come here for it....!!!!

*Flouces off in rupert pants in a huff*

Er... what are Rupert pants - in my day Rupert Bear wore yellow check pants - are these in fashion or is it something else?

Clubbed to Death by Rob D (sorry, that should work in iTunes, I can never remember his full name), I know it sounds horrible, but it's off of the the Matrix, really good stuff.
