I'm not against it, but didn't it reallly screw up the pitch last time?

And given it keeps breaking up, having a bunch of 15-20st blokes running around on it wont help :?

Let's hope we're going for the 2001 result as opposed to the 2003 result....

Looking forward to the game, should be a cracker. still concerned about the pitch though and it just goes to show the club will take money for this rather than host a decent game of footie

Depends how much a new pitch is these days. I doubt the revenue that the RFL would make from this would pay for a tenth of a new pitch, never mind the pittance Bolton will make.

23 Feb - still a long way off. It'll be interesting to see how the Broncos perform given that they will not have had a competition game for five months. With a bit of luck St. Helens will have tired players and thus even things up a bit.

What are these games usually like? Dire rugby or scintillating exhibitions of skill and strength?

Usually a one sided roll over which the English team wins easily. Not this time though.

Thanks. I had the thought in the back of my mind that the Australian teams hadn't been all that successful in these games.

Last Australian win was in 2003 when we got humiliated 38-0 by Sydney. Also played at the Reebok, actually.

I don't follow the game all that much, just enough to talk reasonably sensibly to customers and friends who do. Sydney City/Eastern Suburbs/The Roosters are nominally my team. It's probably like football in the U.K. - if you admit you don't 'have a team' many people look sideways at you.

Why the comment 'not this time though'. Have St Helens lost the plot this season? Yes, I could go a-Googling but it's best to get the information from the horses mouth. (sorry Crazy if you're reading this).

Oh no, we're a strong team (losing Jamie Lyon would weaken anyone) it's just that Aussie teams rarely take this game seriously. But this game has been arranged specifically so Brisbane's big guns can play so we're going to have to up our game. If every player plays to their best I do genuinely believe that we're the best team on the planet though.

However, "not this time though" refers to what I expect to Brisbane's competetiveness. We beat them in 2001, 20-18 in highly dramatic circumstances to win our first and so far only World Club Challenge. They put out their full team, played their heart and soul out, and looked gutted at full time, they just got undone by us.

It should be a great game. I just hope we win it.

Again, my thanks.

Let's hope that Brisbane does indeed take the game seriously and turn it into a genuine contest. They are a pretty good team (or were - I don't know what change of playing staff has occurred since September) which is to be expected, I suppose, given that they won the Minor Premiership last season.

Whatever, I do hope that it's a good game for the fans who turn up at the 'bok. Good luck.

Am I right in thinking that its a Friday night game?

Any idea of how much tickets are and where to buy?

It is a Friday night game. I'm not so sure about prices but I do know you can pick the tickets up from the Reebok office or the RFL. They aren't on sale at Saints yet...
