Albion the away end, will you? Brighton (A) 13/02/16
Win means early start for the match thread. Never done one before, and I expect to be marked down by Enoch.
Serious question: has anyone seen any ticket news bar that it's £25 and on open sale? Can I pay on the gate, is what I'm asking?
Also, perhaps unbelievably, we may have a selection dilemma for this weekend. Trotter didn't deserve dropping against Rotherham, and by most accounts lifted us when he came on. But to fit him in means dropping Pratley, Davies or Spearing. I'm sure we all have our own opinions on that, but what will Lenny do?
Furthermore, when you've cracked that one, how does the presumably fit-again Zach Clough slip into the 4-1-4-1 formation we've been using since Spearing has impressively returned? Oh: and who's the other '1', up top?
Questions, questions...

Stick with Heskey up front, play Davies off him with Trotter and Spearing in front of the back four. Tell Feeney to play higher up the pitch, his pace will frighten no-one from a congested midfield. Shout at them a lot to track back, keep their shape and show a little energy.
Piece of piss this management lark.
Oh, and if we're still in it with 20 to go, bring Woolery on to frighten the bejesus out of their back line.

^ Not much argument with that, but with Clough sounding like he may be available, what then? I saw the reasoning of starting Heskey Saturday and said so, but apparently he looked absolutely shot before he went off.

Its not Heskey who's at fault. The rest of the team looked on in amazement like statues fixed to the spot every time Heskey (yet again) won the aerial challenge. Give him some bloody support (ie Feeney and Davies).

He was worn out, yes. He wasn't fit enough to start but he did well. Maybe he'll be fitter for Saturday.TANGODANCER wrote:^ Not much argument with that, but with Clough sounding like he may be available, what then? He'll drop Spearing for Trotter. Spearing is usually first to go regardless of how well (or not) he's played.

Although this time around Lennon has conceded that Pratley was poor. But will he drop the captain?

That would be a bad move considering how well he's done the last couple of games. See if Mark Davies is having a day, then if not bring Trotter on for him. Leave Spearing in there and don't kick his confidence in the teeth. Either that or bring Trotter in for Pratley somewhere along.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:He'll drop Spearing for Trotter. I don't disagree, but the question was what will Lennon do? If previous has any bearing it will be Spearing!TANGODANCER wrote:That would be a bad move considering how well he's done the last couple of games. Shame that. Could do with Spearing's energy and spark. Added to that, I think he's probably a better partner to Trotter. But what do I know?
TBH, I don't care if we park the bus and its shit. Just keep the momentum going and don't get beat.

Brighton looked good the other night against Brentford. It'll be tough but teams don't turn up sometimes, so let's hope the Seagulls don't follow the trawler. Or something.
Knockaert is class, though. He'll send Doreen dizzy. Dizzy Doreen.

He should pick in-form midfielders. That means Trotter and Spearing. But that would be logical, so he'll drop them both.

Agree, he needs to drop Pratley and play Trotter.LeverEnd wrote:He should pick in-form midfielders. That means Trotter and Spearing. But that would be logical, so he'll drop them both.
He chips in with a few goals but personally I think Pratley is a slow, lazy cumbersome player who never busts a gut and ambles around the pitch most of the time - a bit like the old Trotter, but on current form the new Trotter is a better player than Pratley, and Spearing a better captain.

We'll get mullered, and have to pick usselves up from the gutter again.
3-0 to gulls of a seagoing variety. 5-0 if Heskey starts and Spearing is dropped.

Since they were in an inappropriate thread, I'm re-posting these couple of quotes of praise about Brighton:
"I assure you that I dread the idea of going to Brighton as much as you do, but I am not without hopes that something may happen to prevent it." ...Jane Austen 1799.
"Brighton has the air of a town that is perpetually helping the police with their inquiries." Keith Waterhouse..
(I've never been there mind..)
