P.M.S.L.Michelle Obama's stirring speech brings Democratic convention to tears
The Democrats are getting rather flaky these days.
It's a dangerous world for those types to be allowed to have power in.

Re: The Politics Thread
I'm convinced Hoboh has his heart set on getting a construction job over in the States. There'll be f*cking loads of work when they start building that wall. A civil engineer in America has calculated it would take 3 Hoover Dams worth of concrete and 4 large aircraft carriers worth of steel to build, and you'd have to employ Mexican labour to be able to afford to build it cost effectively!
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

TBF the USA is probably the last place on earth I'd choose to live and work, the shiny bits look good, for now anyway but if ever there was a country that could self implode, the US is it.

Re: The Politics Thread
We did some rough calculations on the cost of the "Round Europe" wall he was advocating. Good news is we can now just go for the "Around the UK" option. We still need to work out how high it needs to be though, just for when the residents of Calais all hop off the Eiffel Tower in home made gliders...Hoboh wrote:Lord Kangana wrote:I'm convinced Hoboh has his heart set on getting a construction job over in the States. there's nowt new! (except in those days it was described by most as good party discipline!)
Re: The Politics Thread
You gov pollThe Conservative lead is now larger than at any time since the 2015 general election, and represents a remarkable turnaround for the party which was 3% behind Labour in late April. It is still unclear whether the results are sustainable or are just down to a new-PM bounce and the continued division in the Labour party.
Voters also expressed their support for new Prime Minister Theresa May, with 52% of them saying that she would be a better Prime Minister than Jeremy Corbyn, who was supported by just 18%. May’s efforts to reach out to Labour voters may be bearing some fruit, with 29% of 2015 Labour voters preferring her premiership to Jeremy Corbyn’s – every little will help when the Conservatives have such a slim majority. May is also overwhelmingly preferred to Corbyn among 2015 Lib Dem voters (66% vs 8%) and 2015 UKIP voters (75% vs 4%).

Re: The Politics Thread
Corbyn has the lowest approval ratings amongst the public (according to polling) of any Labour leader since polling began. Any Labour leader.
In short that means he is less electable than Michael Foot and Neil Kinnock.

See, I'd be more than happy to vote for Corbyn if his politics were more closely aligned to mine.BWFC_Insane wrote:Corbyn has the lowest approval ratings amongst the public (according to polling) of any Labour leader since polling began. Any Labour leader.

Cronyism alive and well I see and all those successful Remainers getting their reward
Except it can't be cronyism because Sir Desmond Swayne says it's not

Brilliant: ""As such it risks undermining confidence in the honours system as a whole, which follows an independent and rigorous process," they told Radio 4's World at One."Harry Genshaw wrote:Cronyism alive and well I see and all those successful Remainers getting their reward

I would like to see the whole honours system scrapped. Complete waste of time. I would tell them where to shove it if I was recommended for one.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.

Well, I've absolutely no idea which camp Mrs Cameron's stylist falls into. Absolutely ridiculous, the whole thing.thebish wrote:malcd1 wrote:I would like to see the whole honours system scrapped. Complete waste of time. I would tell them where to shove it if I was recommended for one.
