Re: The Politics Thread
Is that predicted or actual right now?
I'd have thought that Labour would most closely associate with SNP supporters as a potential target. It's a bit like UKIP dictating to the Tories because they've stolen their support, rather than them contesting to get it back. Oh, hang on, I see what you did there.....

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Actual - we'd go back to 2015. 54 SNP seats. 1 Labour. 1 Tory.Lord Kangana wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2017 10:21 amIs that predicted or actual right now?

Predicted - Tories will take a number of SNP seats in Southern Scottish areas...
The "unionist" no vote in Scotland has identified with the Tory party again. The independence voters (generally more socialist politically - ironically) are sticking with the SNP generally given Scottish Labour are seen to have essentially campaigned against them (and attacked them).
So Labour are in a tight spot in Scotland. They were third in the polls until recently. Now level with the Tories overall in 2nd but given the seat distribution the Tories are likely to have the 2nd highest number of MPs from Scottish constituencies.
Scottish Labour are a mess.

Just when you think you have Diane Abbot bang to rights (and you almost certainly have) - along comes Karen Bradley to even it out a bit...

Strong and stable, stable and stong. Strongly stable, stabley strong.
Did I mention strength? Or stability? Lets move forward strengthening our stableness in a sustainably, yet strong, new stability.
I'd love it to be a joke, but people lap this shit up.

Re: The Politics Thread
Saw a poll the other week of how often people in various self-described categories of political interest had heard certain phrases. In the "take a strong interest in politics" category 68% (or so) had heard Theresa May say "strong and stable". With those levels of self-deception who knows what to think.

Corbyn said a phone call to the US president, which he would make quickly after taking office if he won the election, would include a reaction to Trump’s misleading Twitter attack on Khan for telling people not to be alarmed by the presence of extra police on the streets after Saturday’s terrorist attack.
“I would ask him if he would kindly reconsider that,” the Labour leader said. “It is not acceptable to make those sort of remarks about someone who has been elected to be mayor of our biggest city.”
Assuming he could be arsed to even pick up the phone Jeremy.
Who would you phone next? Abū Bakr al-Baghdādi assuring him you would eventually get through to Moscow and 'have a word with Putin'?

On a serious note this 'garden tax' is rather worrying, the more I've read about it would seem that the fat controller and his motley crew could run riot with rates.

There's almost certain to be a revaluation of some description - as there's just been with Business Rates...Hoboh wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 10:53 amWell, Trump wouldn't be wasting a few minutes of his life eitherWorthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 10:04 amIf Trump doesn't pick the 'phone up quite frankly we won't be missing anythingHoboh wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 9:51 amCorbyn said a phone call to the US president, which he would make quickly after taking office if he won the election, would include a reaction to Trump’s misleading Twitter attack on Khan for telling people not to be alarmed by the presence of extra police on the streets after Saturday’s terrorist attack.

The soundbytes from both sides are just cringey as fvck.
We've got 2 leaderless leaders aided at their side by an absolute couple of proper, world-class, champions league whoppers in Johnson and Abbott. When did it get this bad? How?

I think there's more whoppers than Johnson and Abbott...Might be just me, but the Chancellor and Shadow Chancellor seem to have pretty much disappeared, along with the very quite Brexit Secretary. We've had complete blx of Amber Rudd, Bradley plus a fair amount of others and any number of Labour politicians...boltonboris wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 3:33 pmLord Kangana wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2017 6:57 pmStrong and stable, stable and stong. Yeah they need to re-run that during times when most of them are awake - try 02:00 in the morning rather than 11:00 in the morning for a more representative sample.

And whilst we're at it, which f*cking rock has Liam Fox been hiding under since he got one of the most important jobs in British politics?

Re: The Politics Thread
Corbyn has made himself unvotable for. If there was anyone else experienced enough and sensible enough to work towards geting the country back on its feet ( to dream the impossible dream) I 'd be in there like a shot. Unfortunately, for me with very limited political knowlege or even interest (that's been destroyed by many years of political circus buffoonery) there is no one remotely in that category except Teresa May.. Politics is a total sham. If I vote Tory it'll be to keep Corbyn out in the hope that Teresa May can do the job. If...??
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?
Re: The Politics Thread
That is a head-scratching statement! If you think Theresa May is the only one who can "get the country back on its feet" (whatever that even means) then I suggest you look through both manifestos and take the 'personality' out of it and vote on policy.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2017 2:20 pmCorbyn has made himself unvotable for. And please add some specifics to those first six words...
Maybe this will help clear things up?

I come froma position of thinking he's a useless swine who I couldn't vote for regardless of his politics because I think he's utterly incompetent.
I genuinely don't see how anyone draws a different conclusion re: Tes Mes though. She's woefully incompetent too.

I get why folk have misgivings re JC - not me mind, I love the bloke- but I'm aghast that anyone is impressed by May. Initially she looked like a safe pair of hands after Cameron but under scrutiny it's clear she's an absolute charlatan
