The magic Oztumer is in. What will our fans moan about when we lose now? Grounds and Buckley is my bet.

Depressing looking on twitter at 15 year olds who think they are qualified managers cos they won last night on FIFA.

Not just more attacking, but possibly indicative of a style change. Quotes from the Boro thread:

Primarily our issues at home stem from a back line, Wheater in particular who drags the midfield deeper. The midfield either leave Wheats and co exposed or sit deeper and leave the forward isolated. You see Parky desperately trying to get the team up but it doesn’t always mean it’s easy. Drop Wheater who is probably our best CB to give us extra pace at home (note that happened a number of times last season) maybe. But then you concede a silly goal and the game is changed again anyway.
Exactly this. For the first twenty minutes last Saturday we had the best of it; we didn't create much in the way of chances, but most of the play was in their half. Though we might have been more productive had Oztumer been picked, we certainly weren't under instructions to let them onto us.

Also, Olkowski urged Wheater to push up more than once in the second half, and he very anxiously took a few steps forward whilst looking over his shoulder at (I think) Nahki Wells before then instinctively rushing back towards him. It's just the sort of thing centre-backs do when they're worried about ending up in a foot race with someone quicker than them.
Wheavers dropped for Wilson and Hobbs. Wheater benched, Beevers out of the 18: unless he's picked up a knock, it's the first time Parky has dropped him for a league game (he's missed a couple through injury or suspension).

Interesting to see how this affects both the above problem (defensive line not high enough) and the one about our centre-backs habitually banging the ball forward aimlessly. If Hobbs and (particularly?) Wilson can pass the ball, through Lowe and Williams and Oz as well as the wingers, we might be very definitely changing our style here.

With Ameobi out, it's not a great surprise to me that he started Oztumer. But to be so bold as to drop both the established centre-backs certainly is. As a decision, it strikes me as being very un-Parky-like (that's just an observation of his management style, not a criticism). Like you, I'm intrigued to see how it plays out.

Said it last week about Buckley - he's either totally frozen out and then reappears in the XI from nowhere lol.

And now looks like it's happened with Beevers, unless injured.

When he rings the changes Parky, he doesn't half ring 'em.

Anyway, winnable game.

Hopefully Buckley will give Grounds some protection cos he needs it!

Interesting re Wheavers....first Parky xi witbout em.

Positive team selection. Hope there aren’t too many changes to the defence. Better than Tuesday for sure.

Well we'll be underway soon enough it should be a good game, just stopped by in the interest of fairness that may the best team win. They're playing the chart "hits" of 2000 on the radio right now that should be a good omen.

I look at the teams announced and believe we possess players of potential, they just need the right encouragement and time to fit in and adapt to each others abilities and styles. You haven't won here for 13 years, we will try our hardest to prevent that statistic from changing this afternoon. Hope it's a good clean game, may be on this evening to discuss this afternoons events. You understand a win is essential for us given our league position and the rising pressure on Hurst to achieve.

Eight of the XI are summer signings. Definite winds of change... unless this lot crash and burn.

Midweek games may have something to do with the changes Parky's made? Both Wheats and Beevers are big lads and not the youngest. Suppose the whole point of having a squad is to use it and make at least some rotation. If we don't concede with both missing it's a sure sign of change from a bus parking strategy. Not much point in having either on the bench to bring on unless as pure defending a lead. We'll soon see no doubt. All black strip for the lads.

Chess pieces are all on the board and we're away.

Quick free kick for us came to naught and the home keeper starts with a wallop. Mic man rambles about other matters, then.......has a twittter chat...then....rambles a bit more and....we get a throw down our end. O sends one in and we get a throw near their box. O sends it in and....Lowe has a header blocked, then a shot wide.

More throws, theirs this time and....forth we go and.....Mac has a good afternoon exchange with a defender, mic man rambles, then....another throw. More rambling and then......Ben has to spring out to grab the ball. Wallop......some scores, then........forth...and back to Ben fro another wallop. Magennis goes offside. Throw us, Mac goes, Wilson and Grounds get involved. O does well, Noone loses out and....Lowe nips in and then Ben takes over. Noone wins a free kick and....mic man talks about Scousers. O, Magennis and.....they knock it out for a throw. Buckley gets decked and O z takes the kick and......in and....we're offside.

The homers sally, Williams does well, we get another throw. And....the homers make a foul throw and...Grounds, then Mac get more throws.....mic man talks tweets. Grounds, Buckley....they grab it and we get another throw. Bit of home possession that goes back to the keeper. Wilson gives a throw away and...more possession...Wilson wallops....the keeper collects. Free kick just off our box now, then...mic man chats and....we get offsided via Mac again. The sally, mic man talks Man U, then Bury and...maybe he'll get on with the commentary shortly....Hey up, throw them...they sally via Edwards...and we have a goal kick. Not much to write home about so far it seems, then they have a throw, we sally, Mac is offside for the 4th time (apparently) .

Scores (irrelevant) more throw, they sally and....another throw. Time we attacked with our new method lads, we go, Grounds does well and.....we get a corner as they head over their own bar. And...Oz....and....Wilson can't get on target. Goal kick them. More scores and..Lowe goes. Grounds..then...another throw....more scores. Oz, they clear, we get throw number 74, then they break and......Ben comes and wallops. They come again and....a throw.....is this a throw record?

Oz chases, their keeper clears. Pennington, Edwards, and....Grounds leaves a gap and they get a corner. Mic man not impressed by Grounds....Edwards crosses, Wilson clears and....Magennis gives one away on the centre.

Lets hear some Bolton action lads.....and we get ....guess....yes, a throw. Cleared and Hobbs blocks and clears. A home wallop and....mic man tells scores then......we get a quick free kick that ends with Ben. They grab and sally at us.....and again and....Okowski gives one away in an iffy position......more scores....free them, Ben grabs it. Come on lads, get stuck in and give em some welly. Ward, Edwards, Ward, Pennington and....Ben catches and clears.

Bit of Bolton possession ends in a throw to the homers. Lowe comes, Mac crosses, they scranble it out and start an attack. They sound to be having a bit more idea than us right now? More scores, we get a free kick via Lowe getting decked. Chat, chat, chat...then...they part clear, then Buckley and Grounds crosses and....Oz cant get past Chambers and now they break and ...Wilson or Hobbs gets a red for nailing Jackson . Great. Wilson it is....Wheater gets stripped. Come on the 10. Oztumer leaves for Wheats.

Pawel Olkowski gives the ball away for the counter attack by Ipswich that leads to the sending off.

Oztumer no loss as he's done nothing so far.

Indeed. Though according to the twitter experts he’s been ‘outstanding’. Hilarious how a tiny lad being constantly in no mans land is ‘outstanding’ cos he did a fancy flick!
