Super John pretty much describes the situation as I understood it. Logically Ken would get out now, and would've got out long before now, but I'm very concerned Ken isn't driven by anything close to logic.

Iles tweets that a takeover is close.

Oooh....

“The Bolton News understands that the Future Ventures consortium headed by Parminder Basran and Sharron Brittan has now entered into a period of exclusivity and could complete the deal by the end of this week.”

This would be great news. Relegation is a given but at least we'd avoid administration and a points deduction that was looking imminent

Come on man, we're only 4 pts adrift. Time yet :pissed:

Excellent news, I hope! Not sure why this consortium, why now but let’s hope it’s an enjoyable ride...

99% sure it’s too late to save this season but let’s get a more progressive manager in who wants to play winning football. Get people back in the ground enjoying it again.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, because there's still a way to go, but the rumour is that David Weir will be taking charge.

13 games in charge of Sheff u; 1 win!
Mark Warburtons assistant since. Also involved with frank McPaand who IIRC was part of the Sammy Lee management set up as well.

After a stint at Liverpool, McParland was our "Director of Professional Football" (the 'pro' presumably inserted into the usual title to demarcate his role from the Academy) over Sammy Lee, who was supposed to be the concentrate-on-the-players Head Coach type.

When that ended, he returned to Liverpool's academy but then went to be Brentford's Sporting Director when Mark Warburton was manager (and Weir his assistant). They all left in summer 2015 after Brentford's takeover; Warby and Weir went to Rangers, and although McParland went to Burnley he soon hopped north of the border too, even if 'only' as chief scout. The three then resumed their usual roles - Sporting Director, manager, assistant - at Forest.

So it looks to me like either they come as a trio (McParland the suit, Warby the gaffer, Weir the sidekick) or, possibly, Warburton sees this as his chance to move into the upstairs role - which would presumably exclude McParland, unless he's restricted to the scouting side. And according to this report (one man's opinion, but there you are), that might not be too wise:

Desperately hope this latest reporting is true!

Due diligence with the way Ken seems to have been managing things sounds a difficult hurdle, but there is hope!

The Due Diligence is about who is taking over, not about Ken...

Iles tweets:

"I am still sceptical about the Warburton thing...

I know he's spoken to them and offered his thoughts but I don't think he, or David Weir, is in line to be manager right now. Just a hunch."

Mmmm
Marc Iles
Undoubtedly a nonsensical decision by Ken to ban him and not talk to him these last couple of months. Clearly not helped him write a ‘balanced’ report - he hasn’t got Ken’s side!
However - why has he never written anything about Deano and his payday loan? I can’t help but think Holdsworth is the biggest villain in this piece. Yet we never hear anything on it?

Everything!

Iles states he's sceptical about "the Warburton thing". I've merely joined him and expanded the range of scepticism.
I was100% certain that you'd be sceptical about my stated scepticism, for example...
