The Bolton Babes
I think we can all agree that our young'uns deserve enormous credit for their performances in unprecedented adversity over the opening month of the season. The Coventry game will live long in the memory. But which of them do we think are really in position to become a squad member this season?
Alexander out-performed everyone's expectations against Cov, but he still looks a little lightweight. Happy enough with him as third choice.
Left backs - Joe White looks much better than Jordan Boon, though decision-making needs to improve for both. Wouldn't be surprised to see White again this season.
Centre-backs - I think all three of Zouma, Edwards and Brockbank can count themselves into the squad proper. They've had a baptism of fire, but have all come out looking strong.
Midfielders - Sonny Graham looked promising in a quiet, does-the-basics sort of way. Ronan Darcy impressed in an advanced midfield role, with great energy and decent touches, but needs to work on positional discipline if we want to make a winger out of him.
Wingers - King-Harmes is a trier, but I don't think he's quite got enough to warrant a squad place yet. Politic on the other hand looks a star in the making. He'll definitely be challenging for places on the bench, if not the starting 11 by the end of the season.
Strikers - Eddie Brown and De'Marlio Brown-Sterling are some way off contention, I'm afraid.
Anybody I've missed? Are there any dissenting voices to the above? Discuss.

Re: The Bolton Babes
Some interestingly candid comments from Hill about the babes...
Dunno how useful it is to say that so publicly, but I'm glad to hear his drive towards footballing excellence. He wants footballers, not gym-bunnies!

Keith Hill (as reported in the Bolton News) wrote: “These young lads have got to look forward to training every single day,” the manager said. “They have got to get out of bed every morning and be excited about coming in and developing to be the best possible player they can be.
“I want them to be the best footballing specimens, not just gym bunnies.
“I want football players and, essentially, those players have to understand everything about that ball, in and out of possession. They must also be able to be comfortable with the ball, I suppose they have to have a relationship with it. I have not seen enough of that from my players, individually.”
“I will go in and have a game of headers in the morning and I can do two or three hundred with David Flitcroft but I can do eight with a young player and that really does concern me,” he said.
“Things like that have to be worked on. It’s nobody’s fault but it’s the individual players’ career. And all it takes it getting a ball out in the morning.
“I can be in the back garden in the morning at 6am before my little boy goes to school because he wants to play football.
“He has that driving ambition, enthusiasm, and how far it takes him I have no idea.
“These young players have an unbelievable opportunity. It isn’t mine – I am already here – and I have a ball in my hand every single morning.
“I go into the gym and see them all doing shoulder presses, bench presses, sit ups and then I ask them to do a little bit of two-touch and the ball is all over the place. So it’s that relationship with the ball that we are looking at as much as we possibly can, developing them.

Do we get the feeling we're not doing something quite right? Losing is no new sensation, but 7-0 with the big boys....and now the kids?officer_dibble wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 8:59 pmLost 7-0 at home in the FA Youth Cup tonight

Re: The Bolton Babes
I've never heard of any of them. Which football manager are you playing? Doesn't the players position appear? You could always retrain them depending on their skill set?Micata wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 3:07 amHi, i'm french, so excuse my english...

Re: The Bolton Babes
Hello Micata, welcome and your English is fine.
I haven’t heard of any of those lads, and remember that we are so short on players that they may be under-16s temporarily over-promoted to the U18s.
