Well that's a lot better. Still a lot of ducks need to line up but at least there's a chance. The inevitable collapse is obviously on though.
Step 1 - win the toss.
Step 2 - inexplicably bowl
Step 3 - take a few early wickets, get the hopes up
Step 4 -struggle with the tail and let them get to a roughly par score
Step 5 - collapse terribly
Step 6 - bowl dreadfully, give ourselves a huge total to hit
Step 7 - Ben?

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
All had a certain inevitability about it. Not sure which bit of that game we got right.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Should have batted first, but if you want to see where we lost, spot the odd one out from these numbers:
284
181
272
268
284
181
272
268

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Well, we lost on both sets of those numbers. Clearly our first innings was shit, but yesterday we bowled very poorly, too. Let them off the hook in their first innings..all round turkeys.

Bloody wanted to watch the BBL Cricket tonight here Down Under, but our Telly Cord to the Aerial is broken!
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Indeed. Last 10 test innings he's averaging over 40, probably our top man of late.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 11:48 amDecent point, well made. Anyone explain why Archer, going at 6 an over only has 1 slip in to a number 9/10? 340 behind, sorta defies much logic to me.

You'd probably pick him ahead of Bairstow/Buttler/Sibley (but not opening) at the minute. He's probably behind Root/Stokes/Burns. That said, I might pick you, me or Stevie Wonder ahead of Bairstow at the minute. Looks shockingly out of form.

There's a bit of a 30-3 about this line up.

Looks a good track. They're batting quite sensibly after Crawley's shocker.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 9:04 amCorrected for you....Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 8:48 amThere's a bit of a 30-3 about any England line up since 2015....

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Just wait for the inevitable collapse! Should be a comfortable 400 (even 450) plus batting first on this. Without any problem. I really hope they prove me wrong and get there.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 9:54 amLooks a good track. 67-2 - on this pitch I'd put SA on top. A decent batting side would be 90-0. Denly and Root need to bat through the next hour - lose another and SA completely on top.

Flat benign wicket and England are 190 for 5. Who would have thunk it? Batsmen are shite. Ill disciplined, lazy and shite.
Had enough of them. Same mistakes over and over and over again. Same failures.

It still looks a good track, despite it being a bit slow off the pitch. 231-8 with 6 batsmen - using the term in its widest sense - getting in. Not one past 50. Poor fare.

Root should be stripped of the captaincy immediately. I've no idea why we went with Silverwood either. We lack test quality batsmen - but even so the mentality is completely wrong. The team needs discipline and desire drilling into it.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 3:17 pmIt still looks a good track, despite it being a bit slow off the pitch. 231-8 with 6 batsmen - using the term in its widest sense - getting in. Root is an appalling captain. Silverwood another "in the camp" type. Need an external nasty voice to come in and tell some home truths - pick some younger players and rebuild a side.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Silverwood at least had a good county record. Good to see them giving the best domestic coach a chance to prove himself.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 3:24 pmRoot should be stripped of the captaincy immediately. Re Root - we seem to have lost a brilliant batsman to gain a mediocre captain. The question is who else gets the gig? Burns has experience but is so new to international cricket it’s surely too early for him. Stokes probably the only other guaranteed a spot in the side. Adding captaincy to everything else he does seems too much.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
I also think we’re a long way away from having a competitive test side again, that can do well away from home.jimbo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 3:46 pmSilverwood at least had a good county record. Its a tough one but Root has to go now - whoever takes over. Might have to be a short term captain - Broad? Doesn't have the qualities really but no doubt will rock the apple cart which might be needed. Buttler?jimbo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 3:46 pmSilverwood at least had a good county record.
