Unbeaten run of two to be ended by Manchester City today. Not sure I can bring myself to watch. Reckon they will put at least 4 or 5 past us! 😭

Going to be a bit gutted if Arteta gets the managers role as opposed to a more experienced head like Ancelotti. Clearly he was an intelligent player but pretty unproven management wise. I know we aren’t going to attract a top boss but I’d hope we would bring in someone with more experience given the dire situation we are in...

I'm still unshakeable in my belief that the Premier League is no place for beginners ;)

Arteta appointed. Not overly excited or enthused by this appointment. It’s a big risk. Still, at least he knows the club and can speak English... Happy to be proved wrong.

I hope I'm wrong for your sake, but I really think that this is possibly the worst appointment you could have made. Given there's something of a re-building job to do, I'd say that the last thing you need is a novice in charge, regardless of sentiment. Like I say, I honestly hope I'm wrong.

Can’t disagree with you there Bruce. We need someone with experience. He doesn’t have it.

It amazes me that they've missed out on (avoided?) Ancellotti. What were they thinking? A first class coach, available for free, premier league experience and who's previously lived in London. Theres no way he'd have chosen Everton over them.

Fingers crossed for you re Arteta. He surely csnt be any worse than Emery

I think Ancelotti made the most sense, surprised they didn't go for him, and surprised he went to Everton.

That said I think Arteta will be a good appointment, if he's given time. Everything I read about him looks promising, he speaks well, he has learned from the very best. But they don't have the players. No matter how good you are, you aren't going to win games consistently with those players.

I actually think Arteta might be a good manager in the future and I have to say his first interview impressed me. Freddie, much as I love him, makes some strange substitutions and is clearly not up to the job. I’d just rather have gone with the experience of someone like Ancelotti right now. That said I hope Arteta shakes things up and wish him loads of luck (he will need it!)

I did think Dennis BergKamp might have ended up managing the Gooners GG. He was a legend (and I mean that in the most complimentry way) and one of the games greats.

Ahhh, possibly my all time favourite player.

The danger with your heroes coming back to manage is when they balls it up the memories have the potential to all go a bit sour.

Didn’t get the chance to watch today’s game though listened to most of the first half on the radio. Just knew we would balls it up. Arteta sure has his work cut out for him. :(

From what I saw against Bournemouth and have read about yesterday we are playing better. It was never going to happen overnight and a combination of injuries (Holding, Tierney and Bellerin) has ruled out 3/4 of our first choice defenders this season. That coupled with Ozil’s issues, Pepe not reaching the heights of his price tag and a crap midfield is always going to mean it’s an up hill struggle whoever is in charge. We have lots of dead wood and are playing many (promising) youngsters who are not quite there yet. This season is a bit of a write off but hey ho, you can’t win them all, all the time. Onwards and upwards. COYG! (Though if we sell Aubameyang in January I’ll be wanting a refund on my sons Christmas present away shirt! 😬)
