If only he'd have come out with the magic line.
David Pleat, quite comfortably, takes the Spunktrumpet Pundit Trophy, for me.
Some years ago En-ger-land were playing Czech Republic. I'm watching the game on TV and ITV has got the kerb-crawler on co-commentator duties. Pleat keeps referring to our opponents as "Czechoslovakia".
Clearly, word comes down from the bridge to correct him.
As a result he spent the rest of the game referring to Czech Republic as "The Republic of Czechoslovakia"
Absolute nice person
May the bridges I burn light your way

That’s a bit OTT! He does go down a bit easily but that all seems a bit extreme, including calling him good as well! He does a lot of running but not a massive amount else yet. That said he’s very young still so hopefully he will learn. On both counts.

As far as I know the rules of football are the same for men and women? It’s not a different game.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 3:35 pmAs a journo, I've no issue with her. Like the Scouse lass on SSN, she talks well about the game and is a good pundit imo.
However, she hasn't got the gig because shes a good pundit (at least not at first). She got it because of 'a glittering career'. That career was in the womens game. It makes her no more of an expert in the mens game, & possibly less so, than millions of men who have played the game at amateur level.

My nephew had an hour at Chill Factor this week. He's commentating on Ski Sunday for the BBC this weekend.

^ No. He had a go at skiing. Not bad in his own category (amateur have a go types) but no idea about professionals at the top of the game. Surprised he got the gig really. He is a handsome chap though

Dear God, Mustafi Watching the second half hiding behind my hands. This could be a solid beating now.

I’ll suck up your smugness due to the fact that we actually showed some backbone for once. Funny how a draw Saturday, conceding in the last 10 felt like a loss, whereas today’s with 10 players feels more like a win. Said to Mr GG that sometimes when we go down to 10 we actually play better and so it was today. Martinelli is such an exciting prospect. Can’t wait to see how he progresses.Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 10:08 pmGooner Girl wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:17 pmDear God, Mustafi Watching the second half hiding behind my hands. Nice to see some northern men (Tango apart) take women’s football seriously

Just realised that Liverpool’s win yesterday means Arsenal can no longer win the league - 43 points behind with 14 matches left - good effort running them close anyway and stayed in the title race until Feb. Perhaps we will get a bit closer next season. March maybe...

Well you probably lasted longer to get to that point this season than us. our chances might be a bit better next season too.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 9:39 amJust realised that Liverpool’s win yesterday means Arsenal can no longer win the league - 43 points behind with 14 matches left - good effort running them close anyway and stayed in the title race until Feb. Don’t think anyone is as sh*t as us having just sat and watched a painful game at Burnley. Actually quite pleased when the stream kept freezing as meant I didn’t have to watch our pitiful performance .Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 1:13 pm^^ actually there's still enough points left for us to win the League! Moved up to the dizzy heights of 9th today. I do think Arteta is going to be the man for the job. I wasn’t sure at first but I think we’ve got a good one. Off to watch my first game with him on the bench Thursday.
