BWFC Squad 20'-21'

Post by kfaille » Mon Jul 06, 2020 5:27 am

Night Lads!

Is it too crazy if we start filling up this post with CONFIRMED players for our next season in League 2?

Please, just post names of players that are confirmed and I'll edit this post so we can start having a more clearer picture of what we've got for next season!

Actual confirmed BWFC Squad 20'-21' and possible lineup (just an idea):

Cheers! COYWM

Here's what we've got, in descending age order per position, with teenagers in red as we shouldn't have to rely on them. And this time I remembered Delaney

GK: Matty Alexander

DEF: Ryan Delaney, Liam Edwards, Harry Brockbank

MID: Ali Crawford, Dennis Politic, Ronan Darcy, Sonny Graham, Callum King-Harmes, George Thomason, Adam Senior

ATT: Mo Faal

At least we've got one sub to start the season with from that lot
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

There will be others in what was the academy set-up - for instance, all scholars up to the U15s got an extra year offered Because COVID - but those are the only ones on pro contracts.

At least it leaves Evatt some room for manoeuvre. :-)

Might also be worth pointing out that Adam Senior is a centre-back. IIRC.

DSB, should our new 38 yo Goalkeeper Coach/player Matt Gilks not be added to this list also?

Good point - but hasn’t been announced yet via BWFC or BBC, let alone PSG...

Talk that Remi is training with the club on twitter - not entirely sure there is strong evidence for it, but twitter rumours seem stronger than ever these days for BWFC.....so.....

Ipswich local press say he was training with the Tractors today.

One things for sure - he didn’t do a double shift, one at each!

Well, apparently there wasn’t any BWFC training today... but yes, being down there makes sense for Remi.

It's not as big a rivalry, but they've got more access to pigs' heads, you'd think..

Yep appears twitter put 2 + 2 together and came up with 13. Not surprising - Remi has faults but is a far better keeper than L2.

Just having a little think on a different way to look at this.

Quite aside from wage-cap stuff, we're presumably still limited by embargo to a 23-man squad. That's basically two XIs and a spare (possibly Matt Gilks as GK/coach). As Evatt seems quite set on 3-4-1-2 I think we can assume we'll at least start that way - so we can start (but only just) to lay out the squad members in those terms, probables v possibles.

For what it's worth, despite them being on professional contracts I think we'll also see some of the kids named here returned to the youth set-up. I'd love to see them blooded in, but if I remember rightly from last year, if they play a single minute they count against our total. Still, until others arrive, they are effectively the back-ups. So...

STARTERS
........................ Eoin Doyle - ?Centre-forward? ........................
.................................... Ali Crawford .................................
?Left wingback? - Antoni Sarcevic - Brandon Comley - ?Right wIngback?
............. George Taft - Ryan Delaney - Harry Brockbank ................
.................................... ?Goalkeeper? ...................................

BACK-UPS
........................ Mo Faal - ?Centre-forward? ........................
.................................... Dennis Politic .................................
?Left wingback? - Ronan Darcy - ?Central midfielder? - ?Right wIngback?
............. Liam Edwards - ?Centre-back? - ?Centre-back? ................
.................................... ?Goalkeeper? ...................................

BACK INTO THE ACADEMY
The 18-year-olds: Matty Alexander (GK), Adam Senior (CB), Sonny Graham (CM, Callum King-Harmes (CM), George Thomason (CM)

Thoughts? I would expect the two more centre-backs coming in will push Delany and Brockbank into the back-ups. Whether this is fair or not, time will tell...

Has Bunney left?

I'd have Edwards ahead of Brockbank ^, Politic could be played just off Doyle (in the hole, no10, false no9 etc etc) or does Evatt prefer a proper old fashioned strike partnership ala Walker and McGinlay?
