Re: Summer 2020 transfers
I'm having a look and it's slim pickings for young players with any league experience. After that, well there's dozens, but God knows how good they are.
This lad might fancy it though - Bolton-born, ex-City U23, and now Burnley have shunted him...

It's that kind of guy I imagine Tobias is eyeballing.

Anyway. Stripping out the big guns (eg Joe Hart) and the auld fellas, here's the work experience of the Premier releasees. And a large number of them have never stepped out of the Academy into real-world football. Certainly there aren't many who, unless they've had their light forcibly hidden under a bushel by their clubs, you'd be confident of slotting straight into Fourth Division football. Apart from United's lads, there aren't many who seem to be screaming for first-team football... but I guess we'd be buying them to prove themselves ready in the reserves.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
Thanks for those DSB, I enjoyed looking through them and a couple jumped out.
Guy at Everton, Luke Garbutt. Left sided, good league experience but surely desperate to put roots down somewhere after several loan spells. Likely to have options higher up I expect.
Ethan Hamilton. I liked this lad. He showed glimpses of what he could be, a good attacking midfielder but just didnt show any consistency in a weak side. I'd be happy to see him back.
Faiq Bolkiah at Leicester. No experience but his uncle is the Sultan of Brunei! Sign him on

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
Yeah. There’s some interesting stories.
Garbutt did well at Ipswich and Paul Lambert thinks he’ll get better offers than them, so we might have no chance. https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/paul-lambe ... -1-6711493
Jordan Graham (Wolves) and Nathan Thomas (Blades) seem ready but they’re both defiant out-and-out wingers, which is why they’re leaving their wingback-playing parent clubs. Rules them out for us too I suppose.
Kieron Freeman has played wingback for Sheffield United so he might be useful, but might get better offers - he’s only played a dozen D4 games.
Callum Gribbin is also leaving Sheffield United; he came through United’s academy and was once their brightest hope, but seems to have lost his way.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson played 14 first-team games for Louis van Gaal but appears to be on a slow slide into insignificance. Maybe actually leaving MUFC (after 17 years!) might focus him. Maybe not.
Diallang “DJ” Jaiyesimi seems to have done well for Swindon last season, playing off Doyle. If they want him back I guess he’d prefer the higher level (he’s also a Londoner so geography is against us).

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
Gribbin was absolutely class for me on football manager a couple back. So there's that.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
Having read his agent's puff piece on here, it seems the club has upped its offer to Sarcevic.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
Excellent signing, we have needed a proper out & out goal scorer for years - welcome to BWFC Eoin Doyle.
If we can get Sarcevic over the line in the next few days, then with Doyle & Ali Crawford re signing along with the potential of Politic & Darcy its looking good for the season ahead, something to get the fans excited and looking forward to trying to get out of League 2 playing decent, attractive football for the 1st time in years.

This is an inspired and excellent signing by the club. Some may question the length of deal but in this day and age and in our current predicament then it is a price worth paying. Now looking forward to see who else arrives at the UniBol

I'm still not sure about offering a (reportedly well-paid) three-year contract to a thirty-two year old, though.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
I can see where you're coming from but if his goals get us promoted then surely it's worth it? Worst case scenario is we don't get promoted, someone else comes in for him and we get a transfer fee. Or maybe FV are more than happy to take any potential risk? Anyway I'm just glad that we finally have that mythical creature of a 20 goal a season strikernicholaldo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 5:47 pmI'm still not sure about offering a (reportedly well-paid) three-year contract to a thirty-two year old, though.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
Trying not to be impatient after a flying start. I’d expect more ins this week as Evatt said he wanted eight weeks of pre-season; counting back from the Sep 12 date that seems most likely, that means pre-season starts next Monday.

The defensive signings rumour mill is eerily quiet.
