Gethin Jones sounds decent- the fact Carlisle wanted him back and others were in for him bodes well.

And the fact we are doing our business now and can have a proper pre season - such a luxury we haven’t had for years!

Seems like a decent signing - can provide cover on the left as well which is handy

SIGNING KLAXON

Reiss Greenidge, another 6ft6in centre-back, left-sided...
. https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2020/august ... s-defence/

Greenidge:
I remember Bolton when they had players like Jay Jay Okocha, El Hadji Diouf and Kevin Nolan and I’m ecstatic to be here. I’ve been training with the lads for a couple of weeks and I cannot wait to get going.
Evatt:
We are delighted to have Reiss on board with us. He has been in with us since the start of pre-season after spending four years in Norway. He is 6ft 6ins tall, lightning quick and has an exceptional football education, being from the Arsenal and West Brom academies. We are excited to have him.
Iles:
https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/1 ... greenidge/

He's a Guyana international (like Flash Gordon) so if they and Comley (Montserrat) get call-ups, that's our games postponed for international breaks... no bad thing IMO, gives the gaffer the chance to work on things with the bulk of the squad...

Well that's the CB sorted, just need that ST now for the perfect 11 :D
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

feck me, are our "position specific" moneyball attributes for a centre back "minimum height ≥ 9'0"?!

We seem to be building a team to compete in the NBA next season. As mentioned above, we're going to be an intimidating prospect from set-pieces at the very least.

A warm welcome to the fourth Guyanese international to sign for the club.

(It's probably not good news for Brockbank and Edwards, unfortunately)

Finally a manager who listens to my huge bank of wisdom...

No point bothering with small centre halves, waste of time...(Simon Charlton excepted).

Another absolute unit!

I like the fact he has grafted abroad and come back for his chance at a big club (his words).

I fancy Edwards is starting the season on loan somewhere.

Not just Edwards. I make that 22 of our 23 embargo squad slots filled, unless folk go on loan. And so far we've got two forwards and two wingbacks...

Yep - there is a few names, other than Alexander, Darcy and Politic you could make a case for any of the new professionals to go out. I’d like to see Brockbank stay given his versatility and promising debut two leagues above. I also liked what I saw of Graham, but he needs strengthening so a loan out would do him good.

Interesting interview with Greenidge here from the start of his Scandinavian adventure.

https://www.planetfootball.com/in-depth ... ng-norway/

He’s had his share of rejection, which will hopefully inspire him and make any success with us even sweeter. He certainly doesn’t seem short of confidence in possession in the obligatory YouTube clipreel.

Under 21’s who haven’t made 5 first team starts don’t count, does that take out a couple?

Plus of course the YouTube clipreel

Ah possibly, is that definitely a rule? If it’s five league starts that would exclude

* Alexander (1 start)
* Senior (1 start + 1 sub)
* Thomason (0)
* King’s Arms (3+2)

But Graham (6+7), Edwards (6), Brockbank (8+2) and obviously Politic and Darcy would count to the quota.

If it also includes cup games then King-Harmes’ starts against Rochdale in the Lge Cup and Bradford in the EFL Trophy would take him over the mark.

Definitely? Well the specific rules for embargo’s and squad size restriction when entering administration are shrouded in secrecy. For example we were told last year we could only sign 6 month loans - under the same restrictions this year we are signing season long ones. Go figure.

However the embargo and squad restrictions for failure to comply with fair play are in the EFL rules and include the definition of established players....as per the above. Am I certain it’s the same for us? No. But I’d say it’s pretty likely.

Oh and all cup games of any sort count.

Whilst based on their backgrounds our new recruits could be fairly described as a rag-tag bunch, from the interviews DSB has sourced it looks clear that they all possess good characters, which I know IE values extremely highly.

Given where we're recruiting from, it's inevitable that a good few of these new lads won't work out, but I'd be hopeful that there might be some real gems amongst them.

Hasn't Gilkes the goalkeeping coach been registered as a player which might add one to your total?

Iles has suggested Gilles will only be registered in an emergency - ie if one of the other keepers gets injured. So our two keepers are 21 and 19...😳
