Yes. We've got to score more than Rovers fans can count on one hand.

Re: Pre-Season Friendlies
Port Vale are currently playing Blackpool in a friendly which is being live streamed on Youtube:

Really hope we can do something like this for any remaining friendlies at The Reebok.
The game's being played at a good pace, Port Vale look like a capable side who will likely be up there this season after keeping the nucleus of their squad together from last season.

Hell yes. Because if the football's as good as we hope, it will be an excellent opportunity to fish for business - both from potential season ticket buyers and from those of us far away who might be tempted to buy an iFollow season ticket, if the "non-UK" restrictions are relaxed due to COVID.brommers95 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2020 3:16 pmPort Vale are currently playing Blackpool in a friendly which is being live streamed on Youtube:

Two things stand out to me: 1. They're being worked hard 2. They're enjoying themselves.

Re: Pre-Season Friendlies
Evatt has just revealed in an interview that we will play Accrington on Saturday then Wigan on Tuesday, followed by Blackburn on the final Saturday before the season starts with the Bradford league cup game.
I’m guessing there may also be a fill-in friendly this midweek and/or the final midweek, mainly for the fringe players and trialists, but shiz is getting real now with successive friendlies against teams one division, sort of one-and-a-half and two divisions above us. They will be intriguing demonstrations of how ready we are - including possibly the previously untested notion of what happens when we concede...

The choice of Wigan's an interesting one. Not sure how much of a team they've got left. Won't we just be playing against their youth team?

For all talk of a fire sale there, I read the other day that 8 of the 11 who beat Hull 8-0 last month, are still at the club. Since the wages were paid last month, I'd expect we'll play a mixture of contracted players, kids and one or two trialists.brommers95 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 4:06 pmThe choice of Wigan's an interesting one. True, just had a gander at who’s still there, apart from a few youngsters and Keiffer Moore, the team is still pretty much in tact.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 4:43 pmFor all talk of a fire sale there, I read the other day that 8 of the 11 who beat Hull 8-0 last month, are still at the club. However, will the players that are courting serious interest (Robinson, Williams, Lowe etc) be risked in a pre-season friendly?

Re: Pre-Season Friendlies
It's not a friendly but as it's still pre-season I thought I'd post it in this thread - the club have released the latest video in their "Inside Lostock" video series today (it can be found on the club's official twitter feed by clicking HERE).
The training seems notably more intense than under the previous regime, with a proper sense of purpose and detailed tactical instruction.
A few interesting quotes from Evatt:
"Who saw Alphonso Davies last night? How many times did he make that one in and then flat? Loads. Loads of times. That's the run that you need to be doing."
"Just make sure we're not gung-ho, we're all going. Remember, 5-2-3, that's our system, that's our shape. Unless they're only one up then we can push one midfielder up and make a box between the two centre-halfs and the two midfield players"
"One more point, we're still trying to score with one breath... there is a time to rest with the ball, there's a time to deal with that"
There appears to be plenty of healthy discussion between the senior players and Evatt too.
It's obviously still early doors, but it looks and sounds very promising.

Re: Pre-Season Friendlies
Sounds good. Meanwhile:
“ Wanderers will resume their pre-season with a game against Accrington Stanley today and then most likely conclude their run of friendlies with a game against Wigan Athletic in midweek.
There had been plans to play against Blackburn Rovers at the UniBol next weekend but scheduling clashes for the Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy competitions mean the match has been shelved.”

Oh and they might have pulled the plug on Wigan by a week today. They only have until 31st to find a buyer, Admin have pretty much said they're not going to start the season on the basis they might have to run the Club...

Everything's being kept under wraps, including 15 of the 16 goals we've scored in pre-seasonknobpolisher wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 12:17 pmDo we know the ko time for Stanley or is it top secret.
I assume the latter is for tactical reasons rather than public health

Presumably trialist is that amoateng lad...he’s played in all 3 games. Must be a reasonable prospect of him signing on now?

Was thinking similar. Strange we've not formalised anything. Must have our reasons I suppose.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 2:49 pmPresumably trialist is that amoateng lad...he’s played in all 3 games. Must be a reasonable prospect of him signing on now?
