Re: Pre-Season Friendlies
Good first 11 for L2, but not much on the bench to change a game unless Amoateng (I assume he's the trialist) is a serious player.brommers95 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 6:09 pm
Interesting that Evatt has only named 7 subs. An indication that he’s using this as a dress rehearsal for the Bradford game?
We have good depth for rotation, we just need a couple of lads who can turn a match on its head with 30 minutes left.

He used exactly that phrase in the interview quoted in the BN this morning. Let’s see if he sticks to only using three of them... as Ghost says, not many gamechangers on the pine.brommers95 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 6:09 pmInteresting that Evatt has only named 7 subs. Interesting to note that Adam isn't invoved either

You'd assume the Triallist is Amoateng not Adam.
And ahead of Faal. Baptiste in for Delaney you'd say the only place there's doubt for next week barring a shocker/great performance. Hickman sounds pleasingly like he's pushing Jones.

This is my biggest fear this season. There’s going to be some hairy moments at the back...

Sounds like Delfouneso is busy, as you'd expect. We will need a shift from him every week. Big ask with the volume of games.

2-0 down, one off a long ball t’other off a corner.

Re: Pre-Season Friendlies
Basic drill issues then? To be expected given it's a totally new squad with less than a few weeks together. Some of the Twitter comments are more worrying than the result/performance. I had thought our lot might have learnt some humility from what has happened to us, but we are still giving it the Billy Bigbollocks bit and moaning about how embarrassing it is to concede to a team who are a bloody division above us.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 8:27 pm2-0 down, one off a long ball t’other off a corner.

We need to wind our necks in and the lads need to get their heads down and work.

Knobhead corner will be expecting to win every game by at least 7 goals.
Re: Pre-Season Friendlies
3 nil to Crewe.
Gonna take a bit of time me thinks.

See what Evatt thinks. Caught us on the break at the end for the third. Clearly Crewe are above our level - disappointing we don’t sound like we have created much, as I think we look like a team that needs to out score the opposition as oppose to nick a 1-0.

Re: Pre-Season Friendlies
I suppose we arguably have two cup games to "get it right." We have a tough start to the season. Bradford are no mugs, Crewe went up and just battered us in a friendly, then into the league against two of the better sides last season.
We need to make a decent start to the season and it'll be tough.

Barrow lost 5 out of first 8 last season. I have no idea how they went about pulling a squad together / when Evatt was in place there etc. I suspect we will need to keep calm until October! As suggested we might be sitting tight on transfers yet.

Re: Pre-Season Friendlies
IE was manager there for two seasons. By all accounts it took him a while to impose his style/system on the club.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 9:32 pmBarrow lost 5 out of first 8 last season. I'm not fussed about a fast start for playing reasons. I just think that a slow start will see the fans turn fast. All this "the future starts now" stuff is a veneer. A huge number of our lot genuinely expect to shred this division and when we don't they'll start causing a fuss.
Thinking about it, not having fans in the ground to start with might actually help. If we get a couple of months without the booboys in IE might have time to win a few.

The goals from tonight if you can bear to watch. Forewarning, it’s not pretty but I’m optimistic come the season, it’ll be reet.

Re: Pre-Season Friendlies
Not totally unexpected. I knew that the moment a couple results didn't go our way some "fans" would go bollox. Just didn't expect it in pre-season after two losses to teams in a division above us!! What planet are we on??? My expectation for the season is still top 6.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 10:09 pmThe reaction of the fan base on twitter has been a bit cringe...!

Yep mistakes by defence and keeper for all 3. Sloppy. Nowt that can’t be sorted on the training ground.
