The slowness of the back 3 both pace and in thought looks troubling in such a system. But we will see. Midfield looks light too.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 3:36 pm34 minutes into the first game and someone's tweeting to Ilesy "Never been overly keen on 3-5-2"...

Haha!
I must confess my initial view of Gordon is he is out of his depth here. He’s barely in shot and when you do see him he doesn’t seem to know where to run too.
Baptiste is overloaded. Think Santos looks good bringing it out of defence but not sure positionally when we are defending.
Jones looks a good find. White as well. Comley and Sarcevic need to get into the game more.

Gordon looks ok to me. Quick. A wing back. The three in behind look worrying to say the least. Apart from White and a few nice touches from Sarcevic....midfield has struggled.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 3:40 pmHaha!

Neat and tidy, moving it around well as evidenced by White, but no great threat. The Bradford goal was very easy for them without doing anything special.
I like the fact we're trying to play decent football. There were always going to be teething problems.
Agree with Dibs about Gordon. One early run showed how quick he was but he's been like a luxury winger who isn't in the game.
Jones looks decent on the other side. Baptiste has a lot of responsibility in this line up and has done well.

Had plenty of the ball but not done enough with it. Want to see a lot more of Sarcevic - maybe sub Comley and get Crawford on.
Crellin has looked steady. Back three less so but I’m not majorly concerned there at the moment. Worried about Gordon though.
Ultimately it’s a system that is set up to create for the forward so let’s have a go - get Taft and Santos overloading and some balls into the danger zone.

Positively - Crellin, Jones, White look like finds, and the front two are clearly good footballers who will get goals at this level. And it’s the league cup, with another game Tuesday that’s a free hit. It’s clearly going to be better to watch than anything chucked out recently!

Every issue I see so far looks like it can be fixed with time. Lack of pace on the turn from the back three is an issue, but at this level that's generally an issue for sides. One extra touch can make a huge difference in the way we are playing and that'll come as players build relationships.
The goal was utter shite and was coming, but again it's communication and drilling. We are ahead of where I expected. I thought there's be a lot more sloppy play and although it is there at times, the movement has been okay and there have been options.
Worth saying that I see this as a very different game if Crawford is playing. They're not scared of White and Comley having the ball and that means they are doubling up on Sarcevic. If teams do that when Crawford is in there they'll get punished.

For me Jones has had a lot of the ball yet not once tried to beat his man and not got one single cross in. Not sure that’s what you want in a wing back who will get a lot of the ball. It’s a problem in this system if the wingbacks only option is back into midfield. He’s definitely tidy and whatever I just question whether he can play the role with a bit more dynamism. Gordon will learn I think.
I agree it’s very early days but lack of pace in your back three is an issue. Need to work how to manage the transitions better because when we lose the ball we look in trouble.

White really has been excellent. The pick for me so far.

Perhaps stands to reason as the one who's been listening to Evatt longest...?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 4:24 pmWhite really has been excellent. The pick for me so far.

Crawford on for Comley, Sarce dropping alongside White. Half the half to impress, Ali lad.
Remember there's no extra time, let alone replays: draws at 90 straight to pengies.

Indeed. Looks a real good player though. All over the place. Now this is a substitution I thought might happen. Crawford for Comley. Will Sarcevic drop back and allow Crawford to push forward or will the team keep it's original shape? Will be interesting to see.

Too too easy. One striker in the box and Santos falls asleep. I think we’ve looked far too open since the change in midfield.
