Just got to build from here. Midfield is where we did much better.
Harrogate dominated the ball and hopefully now we can stop with pointless slow possession. Possession is irrelevant.
We look a far better team when we push high than when we drop off.

Can I take it Tutte and Sarce looked a better partnership than White and Comley?

Do they not have internet in your pub? I've watched them all in the pub, so far.

Quick thoughts. All IMO of course.
We looked much better than in any game this season. Low bar and we still shat ourselves but that's Wandering for you.
The switch to the formation we hired for looked sensible and allowed us, for the most part, to outnumber them in midfield. But also, our players looked much more likely to make the simple 10-yard diagonal forward passes that get you up the pitch. Tutte and Sarce combined well, i thought.
Santos - if that had been his first game we'd be raving instead of chewing nails to the quick. Didn't look dozy, commanding in the air and one lovely 40-yard dribble right at the heart of them. Maybe sitting in the middle of the three suits him. Whatever: more of that and less of the other, Reekz.
Delaney on the left of the three looked the right combination of solid yet happy to play it forward. Didn't panic.
Brockbank on the other side had his best game in months. Seemed to know when to carry and when to pass. Also linked particularly well with his peer Hickman after the lad came on for the luckless Gethin Jones. Although Hickman can be blamed for the goal I thought he did well overall and that shows the benefits of hiring two for each position.
Speaking of which, Mascoll was a breath of fresh air on the left - looked happy to take men on, unlike Gordon who'd looked terrified. And then Flash came on as sub and looked a fresher player, even while getting the ball belted at his head by a sulky Harrogatian.
Doyle looked much happier because he didn't have to communicate via megaphone or semaphore. Took his goal very well (good Crawford corner) then set up his mate Fonz, who worked like a bastard. Fonz, Crawford and Sarce all tired late on, which didn't help, but they'd set the standard. More of this, please. And better yet to come.

More or less correct. I could have asked my mum for the definitive translation, but it's not really the conversation I want to have with her!

Pela Pátria lutar!
Contra os canhões marchar, marchar!

Should have just shown her a clip of his defending previously, you'd have learned it without having to askTonyDomingos wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 9:40 pm

Grand, wonderfully astute summation as ever DSBDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 6:49 pmQuick thoughts. All IMO of course.

Two-minute highlights:
.
.
and a bonus average-position grab from me - note how Crawford's basically a forward and Fonz an auxiliary left-back, but that might be because it notes touches and Crawford's were more attacking while Fonz's were defensive. He scored the winner though

Better but a long way to go.
I'm not getting excited by that victory, far from it, Harrogate were none league last term.
It was a better performance especially from midfield. Defence is alarmingly bad and that keeper hasn't a clue when to come for crosses.
Doyle will score goals when chances come his way.
Sort out that defence and we have a decent chance of a high finish. Other than that I remain not too optimistic. Only time will tell.
