Off to Elvington Airfield shortly for my covid rules 5k. The marathon (10 laps!) Has already started. There's a half marathon, 10 miler and a 10k before my race which is last. Should be interesting. There are some fast runners in the marathon after all the cancellations. And it's not pissing it down, which is nice.

It was ok thanks, better than expected but not great. Big flat lap of the airfield plus a bit extra with a horrible headwind in a straight line for the last 2k.
My mate did the marathon so 10 laps, poor bugger. He wasn't happy. Mumbling about first and last marathon etc. 😁

I watched that clip earlier. Remember her as Julia Bennett, international class high jumper and great all rounder. Jumped 1.92m aged 20 but never pushed on to the Olympics for some reason. Looks in great shape still.

Yeah good shape and super long legs. She jumps nearly 11m still for TJ too!

You never considered the high jump?! You’re pretty tall. Got the right physique for it. My problem was always that I was a short arse. That, and not very good!

I’ve just staggered round a 3 mile run, got Pilates next. Not done so much exercise in 24 hours for a long time! That’ll be me done for the week. How’s your training going?

Oh, not long now and you'll be able to have a go at that. :)
May the bridges I burn light your way

Aye, my wife broke and dislocated one of her ankles a couple of weeks ago. She's in a rehabilitation hospital at the moment learning to hop and strengthen her other leg. Although she's a bit of a lass these days I reckon she'll do at least 1.7cm by the time she gets home, CAM boot 'n all.

No to the high jump for me. I'm in awe of anyone who can jump higher than the top of their head. I'm crap at anything that involves strength, power, explosive speed or any sort coordination. And reasonable eyesight. I once played cricket for our staff team and fielded by echolocation.

Well I’ve just ran about 5 minutes over his 10k record for 5k. Do I get a prize? ‘Worlds slowest runner’ or something? Tbf he probably didn’t have to stop for his dog to do a poo en route.

😂 Just how long did Paddy take to poo?

Need to get my running head back on. Comes to something when you’ve done more runs/miles in the month, than I have. 😉

A minute longer then the new world record Obvs.

Cheeky git. 2 runs, Pilates, a swim, shed load of decorating, school runs, dog walks - over 90k steps in 5 days and still your Mrs beats me on the work week hustle. Would you just let her sit down for a minute or two sometimes?!

An 85 year old has just done the mile in 8 mins, 10.4 seconds. To do a mile, it takes me that long just defrosting the car.
