Maybe because he's closer to the camera, their right-back seems to have been more involved than their left-back. So it's good Brockbank is there rather than Gordon/Mascoll leaving a gap - but equally, would an attacking left-sider for us ask more questions of them?nicholaldo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 3:59 pm
The difficulty is that Gordon is currently susceptible to leaving his man free when defending, and isn't getting in position to put crosses in further forward either. I can't comment on Mascoll but Evatt clearly doesn't trust him yet.

It's not felt like that sort of game, mate - we've had probably the best chance and we've generally looked oknicholaldo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 3:55 pmI've only been able to watch the last ten minutes of the first half due to a poor internet connection, and during that period they put a couple of dangerous crosses into our penalty area. It's good to hear that that hasn't been typical of the half, though.

Yeah, that's fair. Then again, IIRC the last "pre-Brockbank" game saw zero last-third left-flank penetration anyway.The_Gun wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 4:01 pmHe's been fine, but by having him there we're effectively ruling out a corner of the pitch. He immediately cuts back in as soon as he receives it and we then have to play through the middle. We've done this reasonably successfully a few times, but the absence of unpredictability makes it so much easier for the opposing defenders.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 3:56 pmI was thinking he'd done very well there, considering he's a right-footed centre-back. Getting involved rather than making up the numbers. Whether we'd be better with someone who could beat a man and cross it is another thought entirely.
EDIT aye - us v Oldham (left to right) us v Barrow (right to left)

There are limitations with Brockbank no doubt but he’s involved and running well. Might be a bigger issue at home if a team drops deep against us.

Gah. Unlucky Harry. Easy with hindsight but even at the time I thought Sarce should have shot left-footed.

Good, good. I'm currently sat on the stairs as close to my router as possible. Brew in hand, laptop on knee.
Fingers crossed my now regained internet connection lasts a full forty-five minutes.

Crawford's not a goalscorer. Sarce sort of is. I'm more surprised by him.
Gnahoua for Doyle, not what we'd request perhaps but interesting – if Arthur's faster, will he stretch them, or make them drop deeper and give more room to Sarce/Doyle/Delf to create behind him?

Think Doyle was feeling a hamstring.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 4:11 pmCrawford's not a goalscorer. Sarce sort of is. I'm more surprised by him.

Yeah, it's not a change Evatt would make willingly.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 4:11 pmThink Doyle was feeling a hamstring.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 4:11 pmCrawford's not a goalscorer. Sarce sort of is. I'm more surprised by him.

Brocky's really growing in confidence on the ball, it's good to see.
