Will it be blazing saddles down at the Bank's? Walsall away 12-12-20. 3-O'clock
Can we put a six goal fiasco behind us and get back on track come Saturday, or will we be saddled by the leathermen?

Walsall have drawn 9 this season, so I reckon this will be 1-1. Fine by me if it steadys the ship.
Anyone else remember the 8-1?

Very well! I used to go to the games with my dad in those days. That particular day his sister in law, my aunt, was coming down from Scotland to visit so he couldn't go. I went on my own while he stared in disbelief at the videprinter at 4.50pm!
Another good day this Saturday, not as good obviously but a 3-1 win good

Indeed. One of our lot turned up late and dismissed, understandably, being told by the rest of us that we were three up by the time he arrived as us simply taking the pissTonyDomingos wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 10:19 pmWalsall have drawn 9 this season, so I reckon this will be 1-1. I have no idea whether Walsall are any good (they'll be shite, but in relative terms) or not, so hard to give a prediction. The league table doesn't give me many clues, and the only player I recognise of theirs is Danny Guthrie.
From a Bolton perspective I think it's fair to say that the Thomason experiment didn't really work against Vale, so Evatt will have to plump for one of the other N'Golo Kante's lurking in the squad. Tom White is perhaps the least terrible option available.
Illes' piece in the BEN this morning also had IE making vague noises about dropping Crawford, which for me would be a sensible decision. Isgrove seems the most likely candidate to step in, and whilst I think he looks to be a decent player, he's also perhaps not the most natural fit for the number 10 role. Anyway, worth giving him a crack as an alternative to the increasingly underwhelming Crawford.
I'm going to guess we will come out significantly more conservatively than last week and look to keep things as tight as possible. Thus I'll go for a 1-1 draw.

Evatt more than likely go with the more defensive option in White but I would keep Thomason to start. A lot of our good attacking play went through him. The defense was the problem, not him. Crawford need a visit to the bench, but should it be Isgrove or the energetic Darcy who replaces him. Isgrove is predominantly a right winger, Darcy is comfortable playing on the left. Do we change shape to accommodate Isgrove? I would go with Darcy.
Whatever the combination, the Back 3 must show up.

I would also bring in Darcy for Crawford, but it just seems far more likely Evatt will go for Isgrove. I don't think he's going to change his preferred shape either, so it looks like being a bit of a square peg, round hole type job.

Agree these seem to be the two main decisions barring injury. I suspect White and Isgrove too.The_Gun wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 10:22 amI have no idea whether Walsall are any good (they'll be shite, but in relative terms) or not, so hard to give a prediction. I said it last week and I’ll stick by it, I would go Comley on the basis he suits the position more. I still think he’s probably the poorer player but he is a defensive mid and I’m not convinced White is. But yeah I’m pretty sure it’s White and Incan see a Isgrove starting though again I’m not sure he’s a natural fit for the formation - but he’s earned a shot for sure.

I think the Vale defeat exorcised that particular demon!
The back 3 got inadequate protection versus Vale. For that reason I'd be picking White ahead of Comley, whose passing range seems never to go beyond 2 or 3 yards, sideways or backwards. The last thing this defence needs is more of the ball.

Unbelievable. I'm not talking about 11 changes but to leave that midfield 3 seems bonkers, unless he's given Sarcevic a deeper role. Actually no... still bonkers.
Let's hope Walsall are really really shit!
