He’s suggesting he hasn’t trained much and isn’t fit...but he’s played twice in a week for scunthorpe! He’s fallen behind Greenidge in the pecking order and Delaney suits a two centre back system, perhaps Taft doesn’t. I dunno. What meant was i can see why the covid stuff meant he disappeared for a couple of months and then he’s not got himself back in the side.

I think he was just being kind to the guy. You don't ship someone off on loan for six months because they missed two weeks of training if you think they're any good.

I still don't really get why Greenidge would be ranked above Taft - there's no way Greenidge would be getting games for any other side in the division. But hey ho, that's a mystery which we'll probably never know the real answer to.

According to BBC Gossip Wolves are interested in Bolton's 17yr old Finlay Lockett. Anyone know anything about him? :conf:
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

Played for us at Shrewsbury and came on out wide in the 4-2-3-1 at Colchester. Was in and around the first team squad at the start of last season, when he seemed to be known as Finlay Hurford-Lockett.

Looked like he had some growing to do before he was football league ready - presumably it’s this age group where our lack of academy will hurt. Anyone half decent will go to a top grade academy for nowt and there’s not much we can do about it. We just have to have a look at the ones that don’t make it. Not many establish themselves in the first team at this age - that lad at Rochdale (who then went to Wolves) springs to mind.

People get their knickers in a twist over this sort of thing, then they largely go on to do nothing.
Look at that samizadeh character, scored a few goals against children and was going to be the next big thing. Mainly famous now for a passport fraud trial.
I'm really not bothered unless they're playing in the first team, but obviously good luck to him.

Are we still going ahead with this B team idea? I thought we would have implemented it as soon as we scrapped the U23s, but instead there's just been a void.

Indeed. You've got to pick a lockett or two.

Generally agree but there’s more of our ex academy out there than I realised - Nat Phillips being the latest one. If we could have got some decent fees in for one or two that would have been pretty useful!

I think people got carried away with that at the time. We just brought our Academy broadly in line with the structure of many clubs in ths third and fourth tier.

Good luck to the lad. He’s never struck me as a billy big bollocks - he was rather forced out the door at our place and it hasn’t worked out for him. Hope he gets his career back on track.

Agreed. Always liked him and would love to see him do well again. And get a move somewhere more palatable. 😁

Aye. Spend 6 months getting his sharpness back and then come back to us in the summer.

Kioso won't be coming back. He's joined Northampton Town on loan.

That's pi$$ poor - feels like they had a plan when they requested his return...

Definitely seems that way.

Maybe we'll finally give Jak Hickman another crack as he's been surprisingly frozen out of the squad.

Failing that, there's always Mark Little who is not getting much game time. I'm sure he could do a job at this level.

As for the Clough deal, would be a crying shame if we hadn't at least looked at the chance of re-signing him.
