The athletics/running thread

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Yeah - I had all these in my dairy in 2020 too.

Bolton Marathon
Leeds Olympic distance Tri
Ironman UK
Swim Serpentine
London Marathon

Bugger of it is, I'm busy in 2021. Drat!

I’ve a couple in my diary too. Just haven’t decided which pub(s) I’m watching from yet. 🍺
You could join Worthy for the live action in his dairy and give him a hand milking the cows at the same time.
Whilst blindfolded. Aye. :D
When I last lived in Bolton I used to go to watch a folk band called the Madrigal Trio. They sang traditional Lancashire folk songs (I know) but one song they always did was called 'Who's the fool now?' which involved a maid milking a bull.... and the immortal line 'with every stroke a bucketful'

First ‘run’ of the year tonight. Nothing to write home about. Short and slow. However the chance to compare home schooling woes with an actual adult human whilst we take 1-1 exercise suddenly means running becomes a far more attractive proposition.

Enough about you. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it :)

Haven't done a tap since before Christmas. I can feel myself on the start of that slippery slope of putting off the first run back, but the longer it's left, the worse it'll be. :(

First one back always have a spring in my step, then the legs remember they've done fook all and the rustiness kicks in for the next few. I've been doing nothing either.

On 21st December I ran a route round the Reebok and back 7.25 miles in 1hr 1 min.

Last night I ran the same course in 57min 48 secs

These hills take some getting used to but overall happy with that.

Have run 4 miles once a week for the last 3 weeks. Took nearly a minute off the first time last week and over a minute off tonight (despite a dog poo trauma! 😩) Admittedly I’ve just gone from very, very slow to very slow but happy days. Now need to motivate myself to get out 2 or 3 times a week...

Good work. Going to test my dicky hip out at weekend. Done a week of daily Joe Wicks ab and glute workouts, see how it feels.

Can we add walking to the title! :-) 3Km just about managed without a bus. Went past some people (although a couple of them were going in the opposite direction) and none of them were under 70.

I think after today's effort my current "fitness" level would best be described as "Pre-season Sarcevic after a bargain bucket, 10 pints and 20 Woodbine" and even that doesn't come close.

It's more weightlifting than athletics, waddling my lardy arse around 3k at a slow walk. Hardly got out last year more than once or twice.

Been there, that then becomes "my job" which as I work away a lot (Obvs before COVID) isn't really achievable. I have pitched to the wife and daughter that we're not having a dog as I think it's cruel to keep wild animals in a domesticated location.
