Strange that the official site would mention that after all the palaver about lineup leaks t'other week.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 1:19 pmOfficial site de-bags the cat:
"New signing MJ Williams could make his debut for Wanderers this evening following his Deadline Day move from Blackpool. Fellow new signings Lukas Jensen, Oladapo Afolayan and Marcus Maddison will have to wait until the weekend as they were recruited after the registration deadline for tonight’s fixture."
That's actually good news IMO, I would play Williams behind Tutte and Tomo. Both Tutte and Tomo have played at defensive midfield but MJ sounds like a specialist there and it'd be interesting to see Tutte's vertical passing further up the field. But it depends whether we play 4-2-3-1 like last week or a 4-3-3 with one sitting midfielder (eg MJ) behind two runners. Either can be more or less conservative depending on tactics and personnel but I think playing a forward, a "10" and two wingers away at an in-form team might be a bit... ballsy.
Anyway pleased with that, as Tutte and Lee might not be fit enough to last a full 90 and Thomason is a bit suspect defensively.

What do we reckon he'll go with tonight, and what would you pick. I think he'll go:
Gilks, Brocky, Santos, Baptiste, Jackson, Williams, Thomason, Isgrove, Delf, Gnahua, Doyle.
I'd go:
Gilks, Jones, Santos, Baptiste, Jackson, Williams, Tutte, Lee, Gnahua, Delf, Doyle.
I noted Clough talking a lot about how good their front 3 have been which includes one Harry Charsley. You'd think he'd have been the sort of moneyball signing we'd have looked to keep if we had him on loan now.

Can't make my mind up about Jones. When we was playing out of position on the left, everyone said "he's making a reasonable fist of playing out of position on the left" - which is why I had him on the "let him go" list for January - so we could get someone who's position was on the left - which we've now done.
Back as a right back, I was disappointed in his attacking threat early doors on the right, thought Hickman offered better from what I saw, but clearly that isn't going to happen either - so still unsure about Jones.
Gilks
Brockbank
Santos
Baptiste
Jackson
Lee
Williams
Isgrove
Arfur
Delf
Doyle

I thought he did fine on the left but still very much a square peg. I thought he was v limited as a wing back, but much more comfortable as a more traditional RB.
One thing I would say is that while Brocky looked shaky defensively (at least early on against Wilkinson) and isn't great on the ball he looked v fit and got on the overlap a lot. I'm not sure Jones gets in there to force the OG.
Given this lot seem decent though I'd be tempted to aim for a bit more stability.

Given Iles' photo of the pitch I'd be picking pace out wide and launching it into the corners. It'll be like primary school where the winger is shouting let me out let me out until one of the fat lads decides it would be funny to do a big slide through the puddle.

Becoming some what of a running joke this. Frozen pitch last week, waterlogged pitch this week.

As I said before that I would be, I am happy with this development. Earliest it can be rearranged for is a fortnight, so the new lads will be registered, running and oozing content.

Salford's game vs Colchester appears to be going ahead, theoretically giving us an extra advantage going into Saturday.

Yes let's hope their content includes fatigue and a few deadlegs.

Baffles me. We're sat here with zero special insight saying things like "not sure this will be on" and they make us travel before making a decision they could probably have called three hours back.

Yes it’s a result for us. Lee will be rested for weekend now. We don’t have to play in a mud bath. And there are a few days to get some content onboard. Hope the new lads have the new USB 3.0 slots. Content upload is much faster with those.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:46 pmAs I said before that I would be, I am happy with this development. I’m guessing pitch was playable at lunch time...but forecast was not good. If they call it then and rain isn’t too bad they get hammered. If they don’t call it and rain is bad and game is called off they get hammered.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 6:03 pmBaffles me. Evatt in his piece seems annoyed they called the game off based on a forecast last week but also annoyed they didn’t do the same this week. Can’t really win here I don’t think. Can only decide state of pitch once if becomes unplayable.
