Not at all. It's just a ruse. Growing cows to provide steak is fine.

If you ate less steak you probably wouldn’t need to walk as much.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 4:29 pmNot at all. It's just a ruse. Growing cows to provide steak is fine.
Anyway, there’s a vacancy going now for an elderly walker, hero and fundraiser. I could see you stepping into Sir Tom’s (RIP) shoes...

One of those walker things may help you if you’ve not got one already?!Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 6:08 pmI'd need more conditioning, first.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:48 pmIf you ate less steak you probably wouldn’t need to walk as much.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 4:29 pmNot at all. Re: The athletics/running thread
Morning Ladies & Gents, in an attempt to get this thread going again (not that GG & Worthy haven't been doing a sterling job) and to get my own lazy arse in gear, I am challenging myself and others to run/walk/cycle (or any other activity) a distance of their choosing this month. Hopefully this will be a success and we can do it most, if not every month.
I have set myself a target of running 75km in February (distance to date - 0km ). Not that I wish to exclude posters from outside the area, but i'm planning to run and would like to invite anyone else interested to run the Bury 10k course, or a course and distance of your choosing on Sunday 28th February. Meet on Wilko car park in Bury (no doggers, please! Sorry LE. ), run the course and grab a socially distanced breakfast afterwards.
This is an unashamed device to motivate myself, as my running over the last 14 months has been shocking due to a combination of injury, lockdown blues and sheer laziness. Feel free to comment, or not. Use it as inspiration for yourself if you like. No need to mention distances or times, those don't matter. Good luck!

Reckon 5k over February is a doable challenge. It’s a short month though. I’ll join you (virtually) BP.

Ah, this sounds a better idea that shelling out £25 to run round Tatton Park. A visit to Bradley Fold Garden Centre afterwards to spend our savings on said socially distanced breakfast and, of course, Snowdonia's finest 'caws'.Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 11:03 amMorning Ladies & Gents, in an attempt to get this thread going again (not that GG & Worthy haven't been doing a sterling job) and to get my own lazy arse in gear, I am challenging myself and others to run/walk/cycle (or any other activity) a distance of their choosing this month. Re: The athletics/running thread
Unfortunately, the cafe at Bradley Fold garden centre is closed due to lockdown. I was thinking more along the lines of a local cafe, or failing that a Maccy's or Greggs. The latter does a surprisingly good bacon barm and coffee. Nowt stopping us detouring to BFGC afterwards!Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 3:10 pmAh, this sounds a better idea that shelling out £25 to run round Tatton Park. Re: The athletics/running thread
Thought I'd lump in on this one, seeing as I'm a local again. Scratch me up for 7.5 miles tonight.
Had a bit of a do on Saturday. Was running up COR from Horwich and the cold air irritated my throat so badly I had a coughing fit. Started spitting blood but carried on up George's Lane and back home. Realised afterwards I'd torn my Uvula. Standard.
