Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO
Grimsby have said the two players involved in the altercation in their last match including Filipe Morais won’t play again this season. Bit harsh on Morais who was reportedly headbutted by his own teammate.
Would be an ideal away game were fans allowed tomorrow. Suns out. Trip along the coast. Few beers outside. Fish and chips. Few thousand giddy whites fans ready to cheer the boys home. A game that both sides want to (and to some extent need to) win. Would have been a classic trip. Shame.

They brushed foreheads. It was hardly a full on Glasgow kiss. Still a red and a 3 match. Their forum actually seem fairly delighted Payne won't feature and don't seem to be that fussed about the Postman, either. Payne played more of the games than Morais in their unbeaten run (all draws bar one win)

Surest sign yet that Grimsby have given up the ghost and are preparing for life in the National League. You don't limit your resources if you think there's any chance of staying up. 3-0.

They might be thinking it will improve team spirit and forge a fighting spirit amongst the squad.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 12:55 pmSurest sign yet that Grimsby have given up the ghost and are preparing for life in the National League. The manager subbed Morais at half-time, immediately after the Glasgow air-kiss, so he obviously thinks there was enough "six and two threes" about it to punish both - and to warn their team-mates. As BWFCi notes, some managers will accept that diminution of resources in order to galvanise the rest, or merely to set standards – Brendan Rodgers dropped three players including The Other Maddison for breaching Covid rules, and then watched his weakened side lose at West Ham to lessen their Champions League chances. (That said, they were only on the naughty step for one game.)

Don't believe it Tony, They're professionals earning a living, including the manager, and Grimsby still need a team for next season wherever they are. Beating Bolton would be a massive boost and I reckon they'll go all physical and all out to do it. Yes, I think we'll win, but it won't be a walkover. 2-0 to us however it's gained, but not easy.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 12:55 pmSurest sign yet that Grimsby have given up the ghost and are preparing for life in the National League. Grimsby need a minimum of 8 points from their final 6 games to stay up. In practice, I think they'll need 11 or 12. 4 of the games are against teams in the top 8 and 1 is v Port Vale who have won their last 6 on the bounce. Grimsby have won 2 of their last 22 games. I will not be putting any money on them staying up or having a last stand against us.

Got to admit, I'm slightly nervous I am placing myself at risk of having to appear on the town hall steps minus my keks.DJBlu wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 4:35 pmI say we're domed.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 4:22 pmGrimsby need a minimum of 8 points from their final 6 games to stay up. From reading the tea leaves (both forums and twitter feeds fairly dead), nearest either side have come is when Crawley hit their own bar. Don't think they've managed a shot on target at the other end.
In really important news from the forums, Cheltenham Hubert has had a slight cold so work's been a bit of a chore.
