This is a good point. He certainly knows what works. And he has also suffered non-promotion - when he was Chesterfield skipper they lost in the PO semis at Preston and some of the local yokels, what with hating Blackpool, punched him on the pitch during the postmatch pitch invasion. Now some of same yokels might want him as their boss. Funny old world.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 5:37 pmI'm hopeful that Evatt's experiences of promotion as a player give us an advantage in the dressing room.

Right,
It's set. As it was before Grimsby, another win will take us up one place. The difference is we're at home. Exeter are going to be more than up for this as they have a chance of the playoffs.
A good start is crucial however if Doyle scores in the first 3 minutes and we hold it to the end I apologise in advance for the irrational irrelevant posts that will follow it.

For 4 months, we didn't bother and looked an absolute shambles. Then we had 4 months of being statistically the best team in the League on pretty much every metric that counts other than goals scored (where we ranked 5th). Two games left. The final push.

So who would you pick, peeps? Sarce from the start, with Thomo benched and Lee switched deeper, seems to be the mood music, and I'd be happy with that. Jacko-or-John at left-back – I can see the logic in either, and again I trust the staff to make the right shout.
But will he pick Jensen on the bench? Interestingly Evatt admitted this week that he will have tabs kept on other scores and might, just might, make substitutions to (and here I'm putting words in his mouth) Protect What We Have rather than go for a potentially unnecessary broke, but that would be very late on.
Besides, my heart is now looking upwards. A win makes second place ours to lose, and I haven't given up on Cheltenham stuttering just enough...

Re Jack-or-John: the only question for me is John's fitness. If he's fit enough to play ninety minutes, he starts. Jacko did nothing to deserve being dropped last Saturday but John's our number one left-back and has greater experience.
I also expect Sarce to start and Jensen to be named among the substitutes.

I’d be tempted to have Sarce off the bench. Just because he’s a potential game changer who surely isn’t 90 minutes fit yet. But I suspect he will start.

Barring any last minute injuries it has to be our strongest eleven.

Just asking, but Thomasson and Delaney? Not heard them mentioned?

Delaney has been applauded for his attitude in training and made the bench when an unnamed defender was carrying a knock.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 1:40 pmJust asking, but Thomasson and Delaney? Not heard them mentioned?

I’m getting nervous. I just can’t see this not going to the last day. Mind you, I’d settle for that seeing as ten weeks ago, it looked like we might be fighting to maintain our football league status. Scarce to start for me. They have to come out and try to get three points, so I c@n see a cagey start from both teams. I really don’t want to see us take a lead and then sit deeper and deeper.......and deeper, risking a heart attack in the last few minutes like last week.
In early January, I predicted we’d play Tranmere in the play off final. Please God, don’t let it be so.
Meanwhile, it’s 2121. Scientists and historians are trying to work out why the parish of Tonge Moore in Bolton was wiped out by a third wave of the Covid 19 virus, when the rest of the country was almost free of the pandemic. Stay at home you selfish ****s!!!
