Tactical or fitness reasons?

Dunno. We're under the cosh at the minute and I'd say MJ was a no brainer but Dempsey for Lee(vice vice captain) maybe 135 mins of football is too much in 4 days.

Kachunga is on for Charles.

Time for sonic to put that kettle to work.

I hate saying this phrase but it appears the next goal might be crucial.

Sadlier and Beck coming on soon.
Dapo and Iredale off.
Was going to say that a lot of Exeter's play was through Iredale. Coped ok with the help of the offside rule.

MJ Williams with the 35 yard screamer ...... into the keepers hands.
Re: Exeter Stage Left. Home Sat 17-12-22. 3-0'clock.
Well it would seem like we've had an entire games worth of action in that first half. Second half has been a relatively chilled and quiet affair. Professional job in the second half I guess.
Re: Exeter Stage Left. Home Sat 17-12-22. 3-0'clock.
I'd say the clean sheet is just as important as the win.
MOTM for me is Aaron Morley.
1st half was a joy to watch. 2nd half was professional.

Great first half. They improved second half, without any huge scares. Overall happy. Good 3 points. Onwards!

Sublime first half. Second half we were dreadful but defended our box well. Exeter stepped it up second half and for me exposed our problem. When we don’t have time in midfield we fall apart. But who cares. It was the rarest of things for us in the end. A routine win.
Back three looked very good and Toal was probably MOTM. Bradley was great but tired. Lee was brilliant but tired. Sheehan had some moments but faded worryingly fast. Morley had a superb game. Charles and Dapo both were on top form for first half hour. Still don’t score anything like the goals we should. Charles still misses too many for my liking and when we are under the cosh really does struggle.
It’s a good win. January beckons and I think there is work to do with the injuries we’ve stacked up.

When you criticise Charles, what are you using as a comparison? Last time we went up from L1, our leading scorer got somewhere around 10 if memory serves..and we had a £6m striker in our ranks!

I think that’s all fair. I guess it’s a very different team that creates a lot more chances. I just think he’s one that if he scores it’s fine. His workrate is good. I don’t think he’s a very good all round player though his game is a bit all over the show - his touch and play outside the box if you care about that is really poor. We aren’t replacing him and he’s definitely been better today than he was a month or so ago.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 7:26 pmWhen you criticise Charles, what are you using as a comparison? If he and Dapo can find how they played for the first half hour today though then we will trouble anyone. I’m not sure whether that was cos Exeter gave us a bit too much space though.

I goal, one assist, hits the woodwork twice, grafts for the team. These are facts, not imagination. He's a point man, not a defender. Oh, and we did win, keep a clean sheet and get three points after you said we'd lose. What's to moan about..?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 6:34 pmCharles still misses too many for my liking and when we are under the cosh really does struggle.

Exeter boss Caldwell is squawking that everybody knew their goal wasn't offside, the ref was a homer and the officials poor. That's what stopped them getting the result they deserved......er, right...

I'm sure he has some limitations. What I would say is he doesn't look "untypical" of a L1 striker. I found yesterday interesting, in that quite a few players looked more like scoring yesterday (certainly in the first half). He was certainly unlucky not to get 2 and probably should have had three. Agree they were poor first half, they looked all over the shop, but in any season there will be teams that look like that - last time we went up, there were certainly teams we played that looked all over the place...But on the flip, we didn't have a 20 goal striker last time we went up either and despite how criticised he gets for not scoring, is quite likely to bag more than our top scorer last time we got promoted.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 7:49 pmI think that’s all fair.
