Yup. Worried now. Especially as he only left Huddersfield today, suggesting we got a scan result and moved.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:13 pmThe fact he’s left footed is a worry given it might suggest Johnston is out a while….

Given that, it could mean we still get this right-sided lad in. Will get a curry delivered and do the countdown.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
It also raises the question….santos is out for the season…or a few months…who plays there? Given by my book we’ve got 4 (if Johnston is fit) wide centre halves but nobody I’d want to stick in the middle for any length of time.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:16 pmYup. Worried now. On the other hand, Jack is saying that's us done.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:17 pmGiven that, it could mean we still get this right-sided lad in. Will get a curry delivered and do the countdown.

Toal, for me. Unless Mbete beds-in quickly.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:18 pmsantos is out for the season…or a few months…who plays there?
Toal has the pace to play that role at the back that allows us to push on an extra attacker, can play the passing game etc. Mbete has all that too, but he's new.
Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I'd be surprised if Dearden had much insight into that.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:18 pmOn the other hand, Jack is saying that's us done.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:17 pmGiven that, it could mean we still get this right-sided lad in. Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Well yeah. But Toal is not ideal there yet. He’s more Bergsson than Taggart. Mbete - can’t see that. Lad is 19 and hasn’t played a full 90 minute game this season. Indeed he has only one senior full 90 mins under his belt.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:20 pmToal, for me. Well, if Santos gets injured it's not a case of who is ideal for the role - it's who's best out of less than perfect options.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:23 pmWell yeah. For me, right this second, it's Toal.., your mileage may vary.
Needless to say, Santos is a bit important.

I think we are done now. Full up on loans.
Unless shola is out for a long while that’s it for this window.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Nah it was just a hypothetical re cover.
I’m theory we went into the season with Jones on right side, Santos and Aimson middle, Iredale and Johnston left side….
We added Toal to right side giving us cover for each position.
We’ve lost Iredale and Aimson and replaced with Mbete who is left sided. Just leaves the middle spot a little uncovered is all.

Like Accy fans and Traf, then.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:13 pmHuddersfield fans don’t have a good word to say about him though.
I mean of course, if they have rave reviews, no harm done.
But internet gobshites aren't always reliable.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Will once again go out on a limb and say this is a terrific signing. Has everything we need to be able to play the kind of football Evatt ideally wants to and fits us far better than Aimson in terms of style.
I don't think this is the business we intended to do, but as a reflex action it's one of the better moves I've seen in some time.
Once again, Mr Markham showing he's just really good at his job.

Well no. We liked what Luton fans had to say about Jerome.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:32 pmLike Accy fans and Traf, then.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:13 pmHuddersfield fans don’t have a good word to say about him though.

I think he sounds a decent fit for us tbh and probably all considered as good as it would get today, needing something on deadline day. Presumably knows Trafford so that might help him settle in. Huddersfield a bit of a mess too so hard for a young player.

Can only judge by what his former managers and Pep says about him but yeah…on paper it looks a great deal considering where we are.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:35 pmWill once again go out on a limb and say this is a terrific signing. Was always going to be a young loanee and at least he has some experience, if not a lot, behind PL2 and frankly it’s a better deal than I expected. Left footed and fast ticks boxes as does comfortable on the ball.
Let’s hope he settles quickly and builds some confidence.

What I'm saying is: Gobshites with negative viewpoints are ten a penny online. Even at Accy, who've barely got enough fans to fill a double-decker, and yet they were falling over themselves to decry Trafford as the worst goalkeeper with two arms.
So yeah. I rarely trust negative views online, because that's what the platforms thrive on.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Probably worth saying that in terms of me talking earlier about always having contingency plans going on, I spoke to either Brommers or DSB at the tail end of December (or early Jan, I forget) about us talking to Man City about possibly jumping in for one their lads on loan. That was another player and we got something else done in that position, but it probably shows that these conversations are constantly going on in the background to make sure that when we're in this kind of situation we can just pick up a phone and say, "Can we still do that deal?", rather than set up entirely new terms from scratch.
Makes me very, very happy that we are now run properly.

Tshimanga to Peterborough is an interesting signing, fair to say he hasn't been exactly the same player since his injury though.

It's a very Peterborough signing. Might work, might not. They calculate their risks.
