Time for a trip down to the seat of learning and boat rowing for the Super Whites, All a bit of a lotto right now with Ipswich tantalisingly within reach in third place, but a mixed bag of games in hand around us that could affect several more since we lead the field in games played. As ever, a lot depends on ourselves as much as those hovering around us. This weekend may spread the field a bit, but our priority right now is beating the Posh and away from home this might not be that easy. We really need to forget about redeemers amongst the new boys individually and concentrate on can they fit in with our system? We have the means, but can we utilise them. Well, of course we can.

They've been flicking midmatch between a back four and three.

We really haven't got much choice, but we have a trio of key decisions, one probably harder than the others.

1. Who starts up front with Dion? Presumably Adeboyejo; would rotating him for Jerome be a bit of a snub? I think Ade is the favourite here.

2. At 10, Shoretire or Lee? My hunch is start with Lee and bring the kid on. But I wouldn't wail if Shola starts.

3. The toughie. Assuming Randell is unfit, do we play Jones in the back three with Isgrove at RWB? Or try City whizkid Mbete at LCB with Jones RWB? I'm thinking the potential of Mbete and the question marks over Izzy suggest the latter, which would be a fairly big call, but that's what managers do....

I had us winning when I thought Bradley and Williams would start at wingback. I think it's tougher now, but they are still beatable.

The formula remains the same. If we can pin them back we'll win, barring moments of madness. If they can pin us back they'll beat us.

I want to see Dion and Vik (as I believe we are now to call him) threatening in behind to drag their defence back and we need John to be arsed defensively.

Their right back will look to overload near the byline to get into the box and their left back will look for crosses from deep, so we already know what job we have to do on each side against their tricky wingers and attacking fullbacks. Ferguson doesn't change much.

If we show up and play intelligently then 2-1 Bolton. If we don't show up, or we let them drag our defensive line too deep, could be anything.

We win it in midfield. They win it out wide. I'd make them favourites because of who is out for us, but we shouldn't go there looking to do anything other than dominate and win.

I think that asking RW who is way off full match fitness to play this would be too risky…not just for him but the game generally…he struggled at Derby. John has been poor but looks a bit fitter.

But I know what you mean. I too would be tempted to start with the more solid Jones. Randell is a good option off the bench if either wingback is underachieving <side-eye left> or if we need to chase the game.

He’s not, but it’s a tough game away at a rival where a non wing back who is stronger defensively might make sense given our injury and suspension situation means we aren’t playing our optimal choice there anyway.

It’s not the ideal game to throw Mbete in either so can see an argument for not doing.

Do I think it’s ideal for getting to fitness Randell either? No. Nor Isgrove who hasn’t played in a decade and is a bit weak anyway.

I'm assuming our 8 are: Bradley, Iredale, Thomason, Isgrove, Williams, Bod, Dan and Kacha? If so, 2 are back - Randy & Dan. Do with the exception of Bradley, and having had a couple of weeks with no midweek fixture, we're not to far shy of full strength on the starting XI...

My thoughts are that without Bradley, we lose our attacking outlet down the wing so if Williams is fit, he comes in on the left for that attacking outlet with Jones playing RWB, thus the highly rated Mbete coming in. If he can't get in now since we don't have a natural left sided CH with Johnston's injury, then when? I would play Lee at 10 for his experience and guile, and Shoretire, who looks better as a false 9 than a 10 to me, partnering Charles up front where we are now spoilt with good options.

He has 5 promotions. 4 with Peterborough. He can clearly get results at this level.

To say "Either Evatt always beats Ferguson, regardless of things like available players, or I'll worry about him" doesn't make much sense.

Tough game this and they were one of my pre season favourites to go up. Ordinarily, given the circumstances I'd expect us to lose Saturday but there's a greater resilience about this side and I'd not be astonished to see us nick it.
