Re: Wembley Details
I am told that I had already realised earlier that it was on Friday and it doesn't change anything...
The train home can take up to 9 hours. Taking two cars is "unreasonable"...
I do see her point on this one. I should probably drop this one.

My dad wasn’t a Bolton fan and he got tickets through a supplier at his work at the timeDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 12:14 pmTorquay, Tranmere, Liverpool, Reading, Watford, Villa, Stoke.
Curious as to why Boris went to the Liverpool final but not Reading.
Freebie, basically.

The Reading play off final was one of the best games I've seen as a BWFC fan, ready to leave the stadium if the penalty had gone in, then Brannigans penalty save to stop it going to 3-0 and then the rest is history, similar to Everton away in the FA Cup in 94, 2-0 down at HT discussions about leaving if Everton scored a 3rd and then the BWFC come back, almost as good as the L/Pool white hot game and Arsenal away.

Did Bristol City, Torquay, Tranmere, Liverpool, Reading, Watford and the game that didn’t happen. 2 out of 7 success rate. Also did Preston and Boro at Cardiff. At least I have a 50% rate of success there.
Don’t think I’ve told GG and HG this , but the Friday night before the Torquay game I was at Anfield to watch Liverpool 0 Arsenal 2. I can still see and hear the Scousers sobbing!

^ knew it wouldn't take long!
Done them all except Preston in Cardiff. Had to break a general strike in Nepal to find out the score for that one!
Bristol City was a great occasion to see my club at Wembley when I never thought I would. The final had only been switched to Wembley the year before and easy to forget that pre play offs, you only played there if you got to the league cup or FA cup final.
Torquay showed how good it is to win there. Liverpool how it felt to play in a major final. Reading - an incredible game that completed the long journey back to the top division.
No comment on all the rest!

The Reading fairy-tale made an awful lot of other things in football seem worthwhile.
Even though Bolton weren't there, singing "Abide with me" at Wembley with a hundred thousand folk was a truly emotional experience.

Grandad was 70 for Villa, and then 80 ten years later...
Was at Cardiff was Preston and Middleborough but this will be my first Bolton at Wembley trip.

Re: Wembley Details
I've done 8 at Wembley and Preston at Cardiff. Couldn't get a ticket for Boro.
The Reading game was probably my best of all time (c50 years so far). I was completely exhausted when I left and couldn't speak for two days I was so hoarse.
Tbh, I'm not too hopeful this time around. Not impossible we could win, but I think the Pilgrims are the better side and will shade it by a goal.
And while I'm here, I might as well mention that I was one of 5,000 at Bromley v Wrexham this afternoon. I was stood near Phil Parkinson, who must be the most inanimate manager ever, and saw our ex-keepers Rob Lainton and Mark Howard play a half each.

Re: Wembley Details
After the Reading game, mate of mine made it all the way back to Hull (where I was studying at the time) thinking we'd won 4-2.

A QPR supporting mate of mine once trekked up to Port Vale for a game on a freezing cold January Sunday afternoon. Having endured a turgid display from his team, with 10 minutes to go and the Rs 4-1 down, he decided to leave to get a head start on the traffic. Finished 4-4.

Find a rail/tube on your way in with a decent car park. I’m on the M1 so opted for Stanmore.
