The suns headline about this game is a complete disgrace. As one might expect.

Definitely doesn't refer to general privacy, more tracking mechanisms online. I've had to set a few of these up on sites so I'm clued up on their purpose, however irksome they are.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 10:39 amI doubt their cookie policy relates to general privacy. Only cookies, and and I suspect that you need to read it along the lines of "We respect your privacy [only to the extent that you had a few options, the most limited of which allowed you to restrict the list of places we could share cookie data, from "lots of places" to "a few less"]
It's just the pop up of we respect your privacy being ironic and ill timed.
I'll check out the sun one

I assume people mean the bog-roll version of the Scum rather than online – which may be different, and anyway I try to avoid going on sites like that and the Mail unless I really must. So:

Cheers DSB I also try and avoid sites like that.
Over ill fan. Sounds like they're trying to be provocative or ill informed.

It’s journalese - in a narrow column, “ill” is much shorter than “dying of cardiac arrest” - but yes there’s a definite tang of “game’s gone”/“snowflake-baiting” about the tone.

It’s the ellipses. It’s clear what they are doing.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 12:50 pmI assume people mean the bog-roll version of the Scum rather than online – which may be different, and anyway I try to avoid going on sites like that and the Mail unless I really must. So:

You'd hope the photographer will be getting questioned as to his/her morals by the club and asked to no longer attend future matches.
There are ways to make money but at the expense of a potentially dying person is beyond abhorant.

Oh no, how very sad. Condolences and thoughts with his friends and family.
And also for those who triéd to save him - hard for them to take as well I expect?

And heartfelt thanks to those who tried to save him; for another valiant but doomed effort to compartmentalise with the others. Iles reported yesterday that “an off-duty fireman, an off-duty surgeon and a retired paramedic were among those first on the scene” - as professionals, all will be aware that you can’t save every life, but all you can do is try your best, and I’m sure they did.

Awful news. Condolences to the family, and those who fought to save his life in the ground. Hopefully the club will mark their efforts in an appropriate way.

Ditto to that. What a tragedy for his family. I'm sure all our prayers are for them at this sad time. May God rest his soul.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 2:31 pmAwful news. The club said they would do something at the Luton replay. RIP Iain. I assume he was not a member of this forum.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 3:13 pmDitto to that. Out of curiosity, does anyone know whether the rearranged fixture will start from scratch, or will we kick off in the 30th minute? Not sure what the rules are on this...

Will probably start again. Orient had a game with Lincoln cancelled a couple of months ago for similar reasons in the 82nd minute at 1-0 up; they started again and Lincoln won 1-0..truewhite15 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 9:38 pmOut of curiosity, does anyone know whether the rearranged fixture will start from scratch, or will we kick off in the 30th minute? Under the circumstances and with the score at 0-0, there's no reason not to do a complete start from scratch 90 minutes. It's the sensible thing to do. I'm sure that's what will happen. .

The meddling media have really cast a shadow over this sad event and no doubt added insult to injury for the poor guy's family. The fans are really up in arms if the B.N comments are anything to go by. Personally, I wish they'd play it down for the family's sake as the issue is about tragedy rather then anger. The Sun will no doubt come out smiling of roses as ever due to publicity. Just don't buy or read it is the best answer.
