Well. Not good enough. More to the point, not brave enough.
I doubt Evatt will rip up Plan A and take off a centre-back, even though co-commentator Pete put his finger on it when he said, apparently without irony, that Forrester is "a good defender". He is, but in this system our outside centre-backs need to be good midfielders too. Forrester plainly isn't, which I suspect is why he's down the pecking order; but I'd say Iredale on the other side has also been a disappointment.
We need people to want the ball (bravery), to move for the ball, to move for each other, to pass the ball to each other. Shrewsbury will defend in depth. They're right to. In our last three games here we've scored 5, then scored 5 again, and then rained in shots on the champions-elect.
There might be an argument for switching Forrester to the middle and having Toal at RCB, but we may also be seeing a function of how we normally trust Rico to mark 1v1. Do we trust Toal or Forrester the same?
Dempsey has been disappointing. Maghoma has looked like he wants to win it, but mainly by himself. Collins is his usual mixed bag. Jerome his usual honest self. Thomo not excelling at 6 - he should be demanding the ball more than anyone one, knitting it together as Sheehan normally does.
Ian needs to tell them to relax, trust each other, more for each other. It'll come. But we could've done without doing it this way round.

If Evatt thinks he’s capable of managing in the Premier League then this is the kind of situation he needs to successfully overcome.

Is this a case of character theft? Surely this isn't Bolton Wanderers. We're getting bullied and looking like we've never played before. Trouble is, we rely on coming back instead of bossing it. How many offsides does it take to make us see they're playing for it? Where's DadBod, is he injured? I think it's time for Charles. Collins isn't doing it tonight and it's got all the looks of it "if only" Get a grip lads...Do it now.

Though he won't (and I wouldn't yet) change the formation, Williams is a good suggestion. We need to stretch them and get round the sides. Slightly surprised Ogbeta wasn't rotated out for this midweek, but maybe Evatt thought enough changes were afoot, and you'd have to say we have played like strangers.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 8:40 pmAgreed on Dempsey. He’s a fecking moon man, popping up where he’s least needed.
I’d like to get Williams on for forester - 433.

If we’re sticking with formation I’d get Williams on and move dacres Conley inside. We’re not creating any overloads - Iredales been disappointing going forwards.

This is the sort of game we miss Gethin at RCB, getting forward and overloading.

I’ll be fuming if Maghoma gets subbed. He’s the one most likely
