But I'd expect to find a penny (or a shilling) in a Christmas pudding not a summer pudding (unless I've got a duff recipe)? Anyway, I find Strawberry Fields a bit summery - for some reason I've not fathomed yet I've been humming it all week.TANGODANCER wrote:Hmm. Don't know about Strawberry Fields as summer music LGM. Great song with fond memories, but Penny Lane more fits the bill for a summers day for me.Little Green Man wrote:Ahem, back on track, here's a summer pudding of choons:
Strawberry Fields - The Beatles
Raspberry Beret - Prince
Blackberry Way - ELO
Just needs a bit of Cream.
I went down Penny Lane a few months ago - bit of a dump!

Just remembered why. I was listening to a Radio 4 show about the Melotron musical instrument. The opening notes of Strawberry Fields were done on it. Interesting listening - should still be on Listen Again on the BBC website.Little Green Man wrote:But I'd expect to find a penny (or a shilling) in a Christmas pudding not a summer pudding (unless I've got a duff recipe)? "Domingue No Parque" by Gilberto Gil wipes Julio all over the wall! So too "Bat Macumba", "A Minha Menina" by Os Mutantes are great too, and finally, "Tropicalia" by Caetano Veloso!
I urge anyone with an open mind to go and buy the comp "Tropicalia"... it'll change your life and make your summer!

the convension?
i recently picked up each of the classic Yes albums for a fiver each, and completed my Black Sabbath collection on CD. it's the only thing Fopp is really good for - classic stuff for cheaps. even then when they were doing the Neil Young stuff for £5 you could get Harvest for £3 in HMV.
i used to just flick through King Bee and Sifters for this kind of stuff for £3/4 on vinyl but now i must get them on CD to stick them on my portable mini-disc player. music everywhere.
when Fopp start doing all the early Focus albums for £5 i'll be a happy chap indeed

Last time I went in Sifters, it was pish. Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll get your wish on cheap Focus LPs... a bit too proggy for me I'm afraid... that said, there are a couple of belting Gong albums... the one with the teapot on the front! Awesome!Dr Hotdog wrote:the convension?
