I think Germany but I hope the Argies.
If the Gerries win this they'll be on such a roll they'll be nigh on unstoppable with the home support, whereas the Argies look to have weakneses at the back. Never thought I'd say this but here goes...
Viva Argentina! I suddenly feel so dirty...

Having just figured out, by using fingers and toes, that both cannot lose I have been plummeted into a deep depression. Never mind, they might kick seven bells out of one another!
I hope someone seriously re-arranges Lehmann's anatomy!

Hopefully there'll be a flurry of yellow cards - a distinct possibility. Then the same again in their semi so we'll be playing against the second XI if..............sorry when we reach the final.
Having said that Argentina's second choice players looked pretty handy against Holland.

Even better....instead of tossing a coin for who kicks off they could play Russian roulette en masse! Last team with a player standing kicks off (and presumably would win the match)TANGODANCER wrote:Why "before" the game? The whole thing's now panning out according to plan. Exciting open football from the Africans, effort and skill from the Japanese etc, all lose out in the end to organised teams. Those that are left prove the point. Germany went through tonight because they are organised and experienced. Their penalties were immaculate. Not surprised it was a drawn game before the penalties because the level of football skill and commitment always makes a game look dull because of the midfield and defensive death grip at this level.
In fairness, Crespo got no real sevice and the decision not to play Messe and Saviola showed the Argies plan to defend thier lead after half time. Sorin, Colocina, Ayala and Tevez were immense and it was the lack of pressure in and around the box that let them down. Ballack's long passing game is fantastic but I could have smacked him for the blatant attempt to get a penalty.
Apart from Spain (somebody has to go when the top dogs start playing each other ) the teams left were amost predictable from the initial draw. Now the Argies are out and our crunch game is tomorrow. One thing's for sure; our lot had better be just as organised and commited. I'd feel a lot better with Campbell at the back than dithering Rio. Not sure leaving Carrick out is a good move either. Hope I'm wrong on both counts.
