using the postal system to get something less than 5miles away seems a bit bonkers to me...TANGODANCER wrote:The post. The wife posted a birthday card with money included, to a young kid my daughter fosters, not five miles away. She posted it first-class on the 31st of Jan for his birthday on Feb 2nd, address and postcode all carefully checked before ending. Daughter rang up today to say it arrived this morning.

Really? So you deliver all your mail peronally? Wow! You might not if you knew much about the bus services between where I live in Farnworth and the outer reaches of Ringley and don't have your own transport anyway, I no longer do.thebish wrote: using the postal system to get something less than 5miles away seems a bit bonkers to me...
I also ran a mail room for seventeen years, most of which time the Royal Mail got first class letters there next day. Young kids, being under ten, also tend to like to get cards through the letterbox on their birthdays. Might be seen as old-fashioned in Essex I suppose.

Yes, Farnworth to Ringley on a bike is OK. But Ringley to Farnworth? Up the brew? Jesus, how old do you think TD is? 15?thebish wrote:get on your bike!TANGODANCER wrote:Really? It's the banks who rob us to pay massive bonuses we should boycott en masse, watch the b*ggers crap themselves if a run is started like on Northern rock!!
While we are at it, we could demand our employers pay in cash so WE have control over our cash not computors who at the flick of a switch bung loans out to third world countries that will only default sooner or later.
You want to support third world countries donate to the Geldof bank or such like.
