I seem to recall a launderette on Halliwell Road being owned by an ex-footballer.
Seriously can't remember who, though.

I remember Scott Green buying Halliwell road and turning it into a toll road, didnt last though it proved unpopular with the locals.

According to someone I work with who's from Nigeria, Jay Jay Okocha is now a brick layer. Doesn't own a company or anything. Just does it for the fun of it.

Further back, Stan Hanson ran the post office opposite Burnden and Ray Parry opened a newspaper kiosk on the corner of the town hall square. Franny Lee owned a paper mill before going into racehorses and Freddie Hill worked for him. Frannie's wife and also Nat Lofthouse's wife both owned hairdressers shops at one time.

Wynn Davies had a carpet cleaning business.
Phil Thompson ran a Hotel up in The Lakes.
Sasa Curcic is a loon, btw.
I'll add that Dave Felgate worked for a timber merchant in Farnworth (or was it Simon Farnworth in Felgate?). Or something.
