Ah, touche.
Re: Hodgson....
I like Hodgson, always rated him. Maybe Liverpool wasnt the right club or time for him, but he's as intelligent and world-wise an international manager England could wish for. Hope he's given the time to shape the team and setup.

Re: Hodgson....
The press will crucify him. They want 'Arry.

Re: Hodgson....
He seems good enough at what he does but strikes me that the Liverpool job is quite similar to the England job in terms of press coverage, more expensive players and high fan expectation.P.O.S. wrote:I like Hodgson, always rated him. On the other hand, Sven and Fabio have been our most successful managers of recent times. Say what you like about Fabio but we were fantastic in qualifying for stuff. I'm not sure about Roy's tactical nous but he's certainly been ok in Europe with Fulham, with experience coaching in Europe. Harry doesn't have that experience and he'd maybe just be a cheerleader. Maybe we need someone calm at the helm while the press hypes everything up.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Re: Hodgson....
It Steve McClaren all over again.
Hodgson's the wrong man. But they'll give him the job just so he can fail. This will justify getting in another high profile ultra expensive foreign man in next time.

Hodgson is a man with an extensive back catalogue and club and international level, and he's managed in Europe.CrazyHorse wrote:It Steve McClaren all over again.Hodgson's the wrong man. Harsh comparing him to McClaren IMO! Though if you mean in terms of popularity with the media?
I'd compare him more with Bobby Robson, the media will hate and despise him, but he'll have one good tournament and be hailed as the best England manager since Sir Alf, when he'll promptly leave and stick two fingers up at the press.....

Re: Hodgson....
I meant in the way he's been chosen. The FA are sticking in a fall guy who they know will fail just so they can justify offering Mourinho £50million to take the job on in 18 months time.

If you want an English manager though, there is a limited choice.CrazyHorse wrote:I meant in the way he's been chosen. The FA are sticking in a fall guy who they know will fail just so they can justify offering Mourinho £50million to take the job on in 18 months time.
Redknapp's CV is probably less impressive than Woy's.
And actually I think Hodgson is probably a better manager than 'Arry.

Re: Hodgson....
I can't help but think certain jobs suit certain managers and the circus at Liverpool didn't seem to fit with his character. (Dalglish on the other hand, fits right in.)
With any luck he'll retro things up and it will appeal to the team. Personally think he's a good manager Woy...

Re: Hodgson....
I don't see whats changed at all since Dalglish has gone to Anfield, other than they've spent shitloads more money to achieve what Hodgson did.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Hodgson....
I think that Hodgson is a good choice, no doubt they are trying to save themselves some money but it's about time they did instead of spunking it away on big contracts and release fees.

Well it won't be as legible. 'Arry's not that good on the old computermabobs is he? Well, not according to his testimony with my learned friends recently.BWFC_Insane wrote:Redknapp's CV is probably less impressive than Woy's.

So perhaps for the best that Woy is going to get it.

I agree, but the fans get so totally stiff at the thought of King Kenny that not one person there thinks like that.Lord Kangana wrote:I don't see whats changed at all since Dalglish has gone to Anfield, other than they've spent shitloads more money to achieve what Hodgson did.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
