Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I don't think that musically anyone ever managed to turn so little into so much. A real inspiration.

Not so perfect a day.
Re: This weeks RIP's........
Very sad day indeed. While many artists and their work fade away with time from my memory, I find myself sitting down from time to time needing to listen to the sounds of Lou Reed.

Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Sorry to hear that mate, it is very hard to loose a dog because at times dogs can feel like an actual part of you, somebody to have by your side who you know will follow you where ever you go. Very sad.Worthy4England wrote:Not at the same global level as Lou Reed, but bye bye to my little doggie.

Cheers gents, muchly appreciated.
Re: This weeks RIP's........
Former rugby league player and charity fundraiser Steve Prescott passed away yesterday. A man who I used to watch at full back in the red v when I started watching saints. Retired early with injury, and then was diagnosed with a rare stomach tumour and given 6 months to live. Over the next 7 years he fought every battle and raised thousands for charity by competing huge events despite his ailing health. He was given an mbe a couple of years ago for his charity efforts, however yesterday his time was up. An incredibly brave, charming and engaging man, taken too young at 39.

Of course it'll mean nowt to anyone else on here, but a much-loved former MD of mine passed away yesterday aged just 63. Though various business pages will, quite rightly, talk about his achievements and his pioneering and fearless attitude, equally, most of us will remember him for being the only man that we ever knew that could down a pint in one whilst stood on his head. RIP Dennis.

A bit like Bruce's contribution in that none of you would know or even have heard of him:
Vale Terry Ryeland.
Twice president of the Wireless Institute of Australia (W.I.A.), ex-president of the Blue Mountains Amateur Radio Club. Ex-baseball player and baseball umpire at state level. Lawn bowl player at Pennant level and accredited match umpire at national level. At the age of around and about forty he undertook a teaching diploma and went on to a Bachelor of Education. For a number of years he taught within the state's Technical and Advanced Education system. After that he was involved with one of our local private schools (Public to you lot). Like me he was a member of the communication section of the Bushfire Brigades (now known as the Rural Fire Service) and held a position known as Deputy Captain.
Terry loved teaching and was very, very good at it. He was Education Officer at the W.I.A. for years. You might note that his positions within that organisation were unpaid. He did it for the love of it. During his tenures at the W.I.A. he was heavily involved in the revamping of curricula and requirements of examinations to suit changing government regulations.
Once upon a time I used to pop around to his place for a coffee and a yarn. I gave up after a while as he was never at home. Other things always got in the way. In the end I'd give him a call via the telephone, have a short chat and leave it at that. Not that that was always the case as he'd often turn up unannounced on my doorstep for his free cup of caffeine and a couple of hours yarn.
I heard the odd comment now and then that Terry was 'brash' or 'pushy'. He wasn't either, he was simply enthusiastic and, more than that, knew his onions.
There will now be a significant gap in my life. Cheers, mate.

Read up the history of Lewis Collin's dad and how he swindled the rights to "Without You" from Evans and Ham. They made barely a penny from it while Mr Collins Snr. did fantastically well.
