Now he can put it on a plate for Beckford in the very last game of the season. If Beckford puts it away, we go up; what's the worst that can happen?!Bruce Rioja wrote:I can still picture him drawing David James out before putting it on a plate for Holdsworth. Re: Gudjohnsen training with the squad
Holy potatoes I would take him in a heartbeat over Beckford.Eidur Gudjohnsen has reported for training at Bolton, as he attempts to boost his fitness ahead of what could be his final chance in football.
Gudjohnsen has been without a club since leaving Club Brugge in the summer and has been invited to train with Wanderers by manager Neil Lennon, some 14 years after he left in a £4million transfer to Chelsea.
The 36-year-old scored 27 goals in 73 appearances, after joining Bolton from KR Reykjavic in 1998, and has gone on to play for clubs such as Barcelona, Monaco - as well as the aforementioned Chelsea.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Gudjohnsen won two Premier League titles, the League Cup and the Community Shield, but his most successful period came at the Nou Camp where, as a Barcelona player, he lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy in 2009.
After disappointing spells at Tottenham Hotspur, Stoke City and Fulham, the former Iceland international has spent the last two years representing the likes of AEK Athens, Cercle Brugge and Club Brugge, but could well end his career at Macron Stadium if he does enough to impress Lennon during his time at Bolton's Euxton training base.
Work your socks off Eider!!

Who? This smiley would be applicable to them.....TANGODANCER wrote:Not really a memory lane thing. Think it all just as stated, a convenient way to maintain his fitness. Still nice that he chose to come back and do it here though. Won't do anyone any harm whatsoever. Few won't welcome him back.
It makes me giddy even if there is only a slight chance we'd see him in a BWFC shirt again.

Couldn't care less that he's 36. Couldn't care less that his legs might have gone, his touch might have gone, his vision might have gone, his hair might have gone. Couldn't care less if he can't do the full 90.
Couldn't care less, because he was my favourite player as a kid, and as far as that kid is concerned, he's the 20-goal hero who'll absolutely, positively, definitely fire us to promotion this season.
Get him on a low wage contract with multi-zero bonuses for promotion, and for more than 5, 10 or 15 goals scored at the end of the season.
Get him fcuking signed, Lennon!

We're trying to remind them what tough blokes play - encourages them to tackle and not roll around like Ronaldo when they've not been touched...

Whoosh! Just what I needed on a Monday.
'The Robbie Blake contract' sounds ideal for Eidur and at 36 he can't be any worse than that shi'ite horse Beckford
