Viv Nicholson (of "Spend Spend Spend" fame) died this week. Her life didn't go at all well after her husbands enormous win on the Football Pools in 1961. Tragic tale really.

Some years back, when his great record "When a man loves a woman" was playing one night at a family affair, I said it was Percy Sledge singing. From the younger generation I got hoots of laughter and "Who? Get out of it!" when the d-j confirmed it. I was the one doing the laughing. Great artist from the Motown Era. R.I.P.

Tango - who on earth did the younger generation think it could possibly have been singing it? :conf:

Younger generation was daughter and son in law (not exactly children) and, as L.E suggests, they thought I was inventing it.

At 7pm tonight I was sat in a hotel restaurant in Brent Cross when I heard this enormous bang on the road outside. I realised it was a serious accident and I watched, for the next hour, the emergency services administer CPR to a driver of a porsche but sadly the driver lost their battle for life. It is now 10.24 and they have just taken the deceased away. It's so sad to think that someone tonight has lost a close family member and friend...god rest their soul :(

Keith Harris, was fondly remembered upon his death for fingering a bird for most of his life.

Can't remember the same being said for Jimmy Saville

Yup. He'd be older than that by now.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
