Coincidentally watched the Imitation Game last night. V good, thought Cumbersquash was good, but there was an element of "give me an Oscar" about it. Mark Strong plays the same bloke in every film, I swear. Enjoyed the film, but it madre me angry too. National disgrace the way he was treated.
Then Inside No.9. Good, but not as good as 1, which wasn't as good as 2 (which tbf is the best thing I've seen on telly since the last series).

In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

I like Mark Strong. I've seen him play everything from an Arab terrorist, a British spy, Historical villain in Tristan and Ysolde to Mr Knightley in Sense and Sensibility. Good actor for my money.Prufrock wrote:Coincidentally watched the Imitation Game last night. V good, thought Cumbersquash was good, but there was an element of "give me an Oscar" about it. Re: What are you watching tonight?
im more on Pru's side with Mark Strong, he's not bad, always tends to be in good stuff but i dont get why he is so heroically lauded by critics and filmmakers? just plays himself, sometimes with a dodgy accent...
loved Inside No 9 again, id put them in the same order too. was good to get a few laughs back after the melancholy of ep 2 which i watched again before 3. stunning.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
watched all three with the missus... engaging, amusing, entertaining - not sure I'd go quite as far as "stunning"... a bit like a modern-day version of "Tales of the Unexpected"...
rail carriage - the poorest of the three - bit too slapstick for my taste..
third one - loved the line "shall I take one with all three of you in"

Still never watched a single minute of Star Wars. It's a badge of honour.

Got to see Mr Turner. So dissapointed. The man's one of my painting heroes. Tim Spall is a fabuluous actor, but the film was a lot of nothing for me. Some great scenery and painting locations in there.

for a laugh, watch either version - although you'll probably only find the special edition of the second version nowadays- of "THX1138" (robert duvall is in it , iirc.. , and donald pleasence) . then you can be the only person in the world thats done that. coz not seeing star wars has been done, And being in a group of One is a lot rarer than being in a group of , i dunno , two (?) like you are now.
and watch american graffitti .
if owt the score from star wars is awesome even if it were a bobbins film , so its worth it for that IMO .

Like an ASBO?
Love Star Wars. Takes me back to my 11 year old self lying about my age so I could get a paper round to make some money to go and see the original at the Odeon (or was it the 1,2,3?)
Anyway, escapist nonsense which I'm pleased to say little Miss GtE has bought into too. Can't wait.

Don't know if I've put this here before but a friend of my Brother-In-Law has twin boys.
They are called George and Lucas.
Their birthday is May the 4th.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Always worth rewatching this old classic. Doesn't count as watching Star Wars Bruce cos it's got Bricktop's cockney gems dubbed over Vader.
I'm with you GtE, great childhood memories. Going to watch it with my nephew.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Watched the brand new episodes 1-4 of GOT (that may or may not be leaked AHEM!!!), and now realise I've made a schoolboy error, as they're so fecking amazing, I now have to wait for 4 more weeks for the next episode
Also watched "The Voices" with Ryan Reynolds in it. What an utterly bizarre film!!!! I think i really liked it, but too be honest, its that mental that I'm not 100% sure.
