me too... it was no secret we had no cash when he arrived - his job (surely) was always to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear... that's the job he took on - that's the job we should expect him to do.

He's an absolute bellend of the top order.ChrisC wrote:jonnycooper wrote:Nile Ranger has been fecked off from Blackpool for being a nobhead!! Does anyone think that Lennie could work his magic with him? I thought he was gonna be a good-un when he first appeared on the scene!
He was on £150 a week basic apparently with pay as you play £33 a minute or something stupid.
Crazy!
He's been arrested more times than he's scored goals.
Drives around thinking that he's a Gangsta in his blinging Rage Rover (for which he's had the decals rearranged to spell 'Ranger'. Genius )
Was pictured with a handgun (taken by his girlfriend)
Driven whilst pissed
Assaulted a bunch of people, including some girls
Now been released by Blackpool for being a penis and never turning up.
Was arrested as a youth for mugging someone in North London
Has his own name tattooed onto his head
And is still only about 24.
He clearly has no respect or understanding of the opportunities that he's had.
We're finally seeing a few of our own youngsters emerging and I don't want this 4uckwit anywhere near them.
This short article pretty much sums him up.

Sort of. Branagan was a brilliant freebie but McGinlay wasn't cheap (by our yardstick at the time) at £125,000 while David Lee, whom poor old Phil Neal had tried to sign for seasons on end, was positively luxurious at north of £200,000. Many of the bargains who made up that team had been assembled by Neal - McAteer, Stubbs, Walker, Kelly, Brown, Burke, Winstanley, Seagraves, Patterson.Rioch made them a true team (and oh what a team) and fully deserves his beloved legendary status but it didn't all come cheap, and it wasn't all his work.StaffsTrotter wrote:... wasn't the team Bruce R assembled to spark our last renaissance full of bargain basement types

Unusually pedantic there DSB, was only trying to cheer TD up, but reading that has made me think there are even more parallels. Largely inherited squad. We do have some guys we've paid good money or are paying good money to, together with a few promising youngsters and some solid if uninspiring professionals. Before it 'happened' with BR, I can't imagine too many getting overexcited with who we had and what market we were fishing in. If I remember rightly Lee came in when we had got some momentum and was a rare example of the Board backing at the right time; and I was at Chester 2-0 down and our fans muttering about BR bringing his unknown mates from Millwall (SJM), before SJM scored to help us get back to 2-2 and then he didn't stop scoring for a few years.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Sort of. As you say the magic is making the team greater than its parts - just hoping NL can work the same magic as BR

Wasn't point-scoring on you Staffs. I did write (for Tripe 'n' Trotters) 20 years ago that Neal got little of the credit for the Rioch revolution - that not all was naff under Neal and not all was brilliant under Bruce (though God knows I'd take it now).

Re: Season 2015/16 - What does it hold in store?
Yes, but here's the point. Neal recognised a decent player but didn't know what to do with him, nor they collectively. Rioch knew exactly what to do with them, and exactly what he needed to add.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Wasn't point-scoring on you Staffs. If my memory serves me right we took David Lee on loan and bought him via the money we received in TV and gate rights from a good cup draw we got.
It's the future.

Whilst I agree, the lad is a 1st class penis!! His talent is un-doubted,and while I don't want to see the club signing bell-ends,if anyone can get his attitude in order I would back Neil to do it!!
We could see him polish a turd and turn a good profit for peanuts...I know it's scraping the barrel but our options appear severely limited, say offer him a 3month deal to be reviewed at the end!!
Re: Season 2015/16 - What does it hold in store?
Abso-fecking-lutely what Bruce said. I don't want that bell-end anywhere fecking near Clough et al!

Re: Season 2015/16 - What does it hold in store?
Clough at the Beckford-vacated 10 - wasn't someone going to have a fit if that didn't happen? Fit postponed.
Vela comes in from 25 to 6, vacated by Spearing who takes Andrews's's's' 8.
Dervite comes in to Matt Mills's old 4 from 14 (now Madine)
Still a gap at No.2 (McNaughton last season) - pretty firmly putting Lawrie Wilson in his place (25).
Dobbie takes Tierney's old number, which might worry those who worry.
Perhaps the biggest demonstration of the fall... Twardzik takes Chungy's number.
Last season's numbers (this time last year) are at http://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/article/squa ... 95001.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
