This guy:
Him and Mark Davies have been the best two players for me this month.
Thoughts?

Very promising player indeed.
Would we have signed him had Derik not got injured ?

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Bah, Ream got my vote.
Re: ..and player of the month goes to...
It's been nice to get genuinely excited about a center-half and his ability to defend properly.

Until we get to the end of the season and can't afford his agreed future fee

He's only played a few games, but considering his age and the situation he was thrust into looks to be the best defender we've had in years.
He has a reckless streak I guess, but I like that he is aggressive and he has the pace to recover. He's the sort of defender Allardyce would have signed I think.

My new favourite player. It's kinda terrifying watching him at times, but he's also capable of pulling off some unreal tackles. And he actually seems to have a bit of passion and aggression and intensity about him, something that's been lacking at Bolton for too long.

Joking (??) aside, what are the legalities being the loan "with an option" ?ChrisC wrote:Until we get to the end of the season and can't afford his agreed future feeMar wrote:It's been nice to get genuinely excited about a center-half and his ability to defend properly.
Can we impose it ... can the selling club ....is the player committed ?

Last season, Toby Alderweireld was on loan at Southampton from Athletico Madrid with an option to buy him for £6.8m. At the end of the season Southampton wanted to buy the player but Athletico received a bid of £11.5m from Tottenham. Of course it suited Athletico to accepted the higher bid so they had to pay Southampton £1.5m to cancel that agreement.bobo the clown wrote:Joking (??) aside, what are the legalities being the loan "with an option" ?ChrisC wrote:Until we get to the end of the season and can't afford his agreed future feeMar wrote:It's been nice to get genuinely excited about a center-half and his ability to defend properly.

Apparently, Athletico failed to cancel the buy-out clause in time. I'm not sure when that part of the contract kicks in but if he impresses, he may not join us even if we have the agreement and we can afford the fee.

You would have thought that loan with an option was just that - an option.

Nah, a loanee left-back we couldn't afford. Neal borrowed him around the start of the 90s. Pike played well and the Paddock loved him; when we sang "Sign him on", he genially cupped his ear t'ward us. But when the month was up, he went to Fulham instead; Genshaw has posted that Neal wouldn't pay the wages.Gary the Enfield wrote:Was he the Captain of the Starship Enterprise in the pilot episode of Star Trek?jaffka wrote:I can see this being another Martin Pike
