If you are from Alabama, perhaps you should support Birmingham.
Well, there is a Bolton, Alabama too.

Re: General Chit Chat

Carrots and seeing in the dark was a WWII propoganda tale I was led to believe :conf: Actually, Harry, you or your source are quite correct. WW2 RAF pilots were uncannily accurate at night owing to Radar. The rumour was spread that their great night vision was owing to eating carrots in an attempt ...

And this hysteria over two women in a fight on a night bus! I've known others beaten up on night busses. One lot because they were drunk, another lot because they were foreign, others because they were students, one pair because they were old, two because they were white, and one pair because they ...

That really is a button! Re the boot. I hope for $150 they give you a pair so you can get some extra use out of them Monty. Pass them off as modern snow shoes perhaps? Keep on improving old man :) I asked about the button, Harry, on my most recent visit last Monday. Turns out there are two ...

Cable T.V. Used to have this some years back. Yesterday, cleaning up the front garden/pavement area I found an old cable buried in the soil; it went through a hole in the fence so, well, thinking naught of it, I put the secateurs through it. Unfortunately Virgin Media had used the same old cable fo...

Re: Top left hand corner symbols

I am quite new to the forum and would like to know what the symbols are that appear by poster's user names, please. 1 Green triangle with a flash of lightening. 2 Yellow dot. 3 Yellow triangle Thanks, in anticipation, piesrus. I have never seen these symbols. I think they must be intended to warn p...

Re: Enforced break (no pun intended).

I went for my 2-week update on the ankle operation. They said everything looked good and no need for X-Rays. Still at least another month without putting weight on the foot, partly because of extensive ligament damage. They took the cast off (a wonderful few minutes) and my leg was an impressive ran...

This one from my local Daily Telegraph: "Zachary Guest was woken up by a police officer dressed only in his underwear and dangling from the shelf of a restaurant he broke into." Even if one could figure out who was wearing underwear and dangling from a shelf, it still leaves questions. If Za...

Re: General Chit Chat

There was a teacher at my school who, if he's still alive, I imagine goes into a cold sweat whenever he sees stories like this. All the girls in his class knew he was a perv and did what they could to avoid being too close to him. They'd have been aged 12, 13, 14 at the time. His behaviour was an o...

Re: Enforced break (no pun intended).

Thanks for the good wishes. I cannot access PC right now so use this tablet. No weak bones, Dujon, just a poor choice of sitting swiftly on an ankle that had shot under my rear. The pain is bearable so far (after all I'm a BWFC fan and have practice) but I'm getting worried about boredom setting in....

Enforced break (no pun intended).

Last Tuesday was a bad day. Walking for my early bus to teach at MCLL, I slipped on the ice damaging my right leg and ankle. I knew it was bad but a neighbour passing by took me home to my garage. With some difficulty Susan got me to the new Royal Vic picking up my daughter en route. They triaged an...

Re: European Second Referendum

MPs have voted in favour of the Cooper-Letwin bill, which requires the prime minister to seek an extension to article 50, thus staving off the prospect of the UK crashing out of the EU with no deal by accident. They voted to accept the final Lords amendment by 390 votes to 81 – a majority of 309. L...

Re: Answer Me!

I'm not sure if I'm the one who failed to answer - probably at one time or another. It seems to me there is little point in "discussing" something if there is no possibility of agreement and compromise, but even so hearing other points of view can be interesting for a while if it stops short of flog...

You are wrong there. There is an entire chapter on dress. On what is halal and what is haram. It states for example that men should not have trousers that cover their ankles - please note photos of Islamic fighters with ridiculously high cuffs on their western style keks showing off their nikes. Bu...

I'm still never sure why "interpretations" of the Quran (Koran) are constantly used to justify acts that are decidedly against its basics. This, in proportion rarely happens with the Bible. An old and well worn chestnut granted, but it's so convenient to quote scripture and wrangle it around to jus...

I have been in Portugal since Sunday with work. I finally had a wonderful fish meal that I expected for this great country. It was a sea bream in Tavira, which is a lovely town 20 minutes from Faro. Ooooh, Malc. If you're still out there and you get a chance I implore you to try black scabbardfish....

Unfortunately pal, you haven't been following the current curriculum. I have no truck with any fxcking religionist who wants to murder me!!!!! Try looking up who it is that wants to murder you, and why! Now, if you want to go blindfold into the future thinking all humans are sweetness and light, go...
